GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR WRITING A POSITION PAPER

1. Write a position paper of at least 1,000 words presenting your opinion about
Andres Bonifacio as the 1st President of the Philippines. Your position paper
should include a synthesis of the primary sources discussed in the class..

2. A position paper presents an arguable opinion about an issue. The goal of a


position paper is to convince that your opinion is valid and worth listening to.1

3. The paper must include the following2:

3A. Introduction
3A.1 Introduce the topic.
3A.2 Provide background on the topic.
3A.3 Assert the thesis (your view of the issue).

3B. Counter Argument


3B.1 Summarize the counterclaims.
3B.2 Provide supporting information for counterclaims.

4D. You can utilize other sources provided that these documents are
authoritative (published).

5. Follow the format below:


5A. Write your position paper in a short bond paper.
5B. Use Century Gothic as your font style and 12 as your font size with 1 inch
as margin (all sides).
5C. Use 1.5 as your line spacing.
5D. Make use of the header and footer.
5E. Write the following information in your heading:
• Name of Student
• Course & Year
• Subject
• Class Schedule
• Name of Instructor
• Date of Submission
6. Read the rubrics for you to be guided on how your output will be graded.

7. Submit your position paper via Microsoft Teams on the given deadline.
