DEFINITION OF ENVIRONMENT

GROUP 1

INTRODUCTION:

Mariann: Good morning to each of you, I’m Mariann Borlagdan together with my co-reporter,

Pauline: Hi, I’m Pauline Anne Jacob and together we will represent our Group which is Group 1

Mariann: The center of our discussion is all about the definition of environment. To start off,
here is the content of the overall presentation. First one is the definition of environment,
followed by examples of environment that are based in our country, the third one is types of
environment, and lastly, the importance of environment.

Today, we will talk about and expand your learning about the definition of environment.

Read sa ppt: The term "environment" refers to the setting in which we interact, exist, and
breathe. It is one among the fundamental necessities for all living organisms.

Explanation: In short, ang environment ay isang tirahan at pangangailangan ng all living

organism to live and grow.

Read sa ppt: The term "environment" refers to anything biotic and abiotic that is present around
us.

Read sa ppt: Biotic - refer to all living organisms from animals and humans, to plants, fungi, and
bacteria.

Explanation: Just like what I’ve said, ang biotic ay all living organisms tulad ng animals,
human, etc.
Read sa ppt: Abiotic - non-living resources that affect living organisms in terms of growth and
reproduction.

Explanation: While the abiotic is the source para mabuhay at mag-grow all the living organisms.
For example, water, soil, atmosphere, light, etc.

Why is abiotic a non-living organism?

- Because, inanimate is a non-living organism, inanimate in tagalog is walang buhay or
they can’t reproduce like sa living organism.

Mariann: For the next slide, my co-reporter, Pauline is the one who will discuss, partner?

Pauline: (examples)

Mariann: Thank you for that, Pauline

Mariann: And now, we move forward to the types of environment. There are various types of
environments, each with its unique characteristics and significance. Here are some common
types:
Natural Environment - This includes all aspects of the natural world, such as
ecosystems, forests, oceans, rivers, and the atmosphere.
Explanation: it encompasses all living and nonliving things occurring naturally,
meaning in this case hindi artificial but nature made.

Built Environment - This refers to human-made or constructed environments,

including cities, buildings, roads, and bridges. It's shaped by urban planning and architectural
design.
Explanation: Not unlike sa natural environment ang built environment ay isang
bagay na gawa ng tao, tulad ng buildings, roads, bridges and the things we mostly see na bini-
built ng tao.
Virtual Environment - With the rise of the internet and digital technologies, virtual
environments exist online.
Explanation: These include websites, social media platforms, and virtual reality
spaces. For example, Python is a website where it is dynamically typed and garbage-collected.

Ecological Environment - This focuses on the relationships between organisms and

their physical surroundings within ecosystems.
Explanation: It considers the balance of biodiversity and the impact of human
activities on natural habitats. The Philippines' rich biodiversity is under threat, mostly from
human activities, like the discussion we had last meeting, including deforestation and forest
degradation, illegal fishing and illicit wildlife trade.

Global Environment - The global environment concerns issues that affect the entire
planet, such as climate change, pollution, etc.
Explanation: It requires international cooperation and collective action. It means, it
is not the issue within our country but also the impact on the entire planet.

Mariann: We will now move forward, partner?

Pauline: (importance)

Mariann: That is very well said and now we are here in the last section of our discussion, to
fulfill our environmental responsibilities, we must:

Reduce Our Footprint:

Explanation: Minimize our ecological footprint by conserving resources, reducing
waste, and adopting sustainable practices in our daily lives. Reports indicate that the carbon
footprint of the Philippines is equal to 0.8 metric tons per capita or 0.3 of one percent of global
greenhouse gas emissions.

Advocate for Change:

Explanation: Support policies and initiatives that prioritize environmental protection,
sustainability, and climate action at local, national, and global levels.
