Course Code: LFS 128 Course Title: Human Anatomy and Physiology II
The Human Anatomy and Physiology II course will help you explore the close relationship between the structure and
functions of the urinary, and reproductive systems, as well as understand the control and coordination of body
functions by the nervous and endocrine systems. It will provide an insight into electrolyte and acid-base balance,
pregnancy, and growth and development. It will provide you with the knowledge needed for understanding the
Pathophysiology and nursing courses.
Course Code: SBS 126 Course Title: Growth and Development throughout the life span
You will discover the important milestones and patterns of growth and development of the individual from
conception to death. You will explore various theories related to the role of heredity and environment in
determining the overall physical, emotional, psychosocial, cognitive and moral development as well as that of the
self and gender.
Course Code: EDU 320 Course Title: Teaching and Learning Methodologies
This course helps you explore the environmental elements that influence the teaching-learning process. It also
equips you with the skills required to deliver effective teaching based on the systems approach in Education.

Course Code: PHA 320 Course Title: Pharmacology for Nursing
This course will introduce you to the pharmacology of various drug classes acting on different body systems. You will
also explore various aspects of drugs, how to effectively apply them and educate patients on their use for maximum
safety and efficacy.
Course Code: NUR 118 Course Title: Introduction to the Nursing Profession
Introduction to nursing course is designed to introduce you to the profession. You will be oriented to the national
and international code of nursing conducts. Also you will develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, which
will be integrated throughout nursing courses.
Course Code: NUR 222 Course Title: History Taking and Health Assessment
You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to use an integrated approach in history-taking and a
systematic examination of an adult client. You will also be able to identify and deal with deviations from normal

You will be introduced to the issues central to caring for older adults and their highly specialized needs. You will also
acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes that enable you to provide optimum nursing care for an elderly client.
Course Code: NUR 327 Course Title: Women's Health and Newborn Health Care
You will be introduced to the concepts related to provision of nursing care for childbearing families during the ante-
partum, intra-partum, post-partum and Newborn periods. You will also use nursing process to provide care to
women with selected gynecological problems.

Course Code: NUR 328 Course Title: Adult Health II
You will be introduced to the common medical / surgical problems of adult clients in Gastro intestinal,
Metabolic/endocrine, Urinary, Immunological and Musculoskeletal systems. You will develop skills to provide
comprehensive nursing care to adult clients in medical/surgical wards including special areas. The nursing process
will be used as a framework to promote, maintain, and restore the health of clients and their families.
Course Code: NUR 411 Course Title: Infant, Child, and Adolescent Care
You will be introduced to the common pediatric medical/surgical problems in Bahrain. You will also develop skills to
provide comprehensive nursing care to infant, child and adolescent in medical/surgical and critical care areas. The
nursing process will be used as a framework to promote, maintain and restore the health of pediatric clients and
their families.

You will be introduced to the major healthcare, legal, professional and ethical issues facing the nursing profession.
You will also debate the ethical dilemmas and their impact on the nursing practice in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Course Code: NUR 415 Course Title: Family and Community Health Nursing
This course will require you to assess family and community health. You will apply your knowledge and skills to
promote, maintain and restore health for the individual, family and community. You will analyze the effects of
development on the population and deliver care for vulnerable groups and individuals with non-communicable
diseases.

English for the Professions – Level 1 is an intermediate level course that will expand and build your English language
competencies and communicative abilities acquired at the Orientation English level of the Foundation Semester.
This course will also further develop your language skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing with emphasis on
the language needs of healthcare professionals. This integrated-skills approach will enable you to succeed in your
academic performance, and enhance your ability to communicate effectively in multi-cultural encounters within an
English speaking community.

English for the Professions – Level 2 will reinforce your language skills and equip you with higher level language skills
of critical reading, inferential comprehension and analytical report writing. You will also be trained to write and
present a research essay using APA guidelines.

This course will provide you with an in depth understanding of the structure and function of the human body with
emphasis placed on the following body systems : the Endocrine, Urinary, water and electrolyte, Acid Base balance ,
Reproductive, Blood, lymphatic, digestive and respiratory systems. It will provide you with the basic knowledge
needed for understanding of the Pathophysiology course
