Bristol Old Vic is one of the worlds most highly renowned drama school, known for it's star

studded alumni list and

historical venue range, the training at Bristol Old Vic proves constantly why everyone should want to go there.

What does the course entail?

In the first year of the three year course at Bristol Old Vic, the focus is put on developing a sturdy foundation in each
student to become a professional actor - by concentrating on the core disciplines of acting, voice and movement.
This includes the following subjects;
Text interpretation, improvisation, acting to camera, singing, accent and dialect, vocal interpreation and expression,
stage combat, clowning, dance and period movement.
In text interpretation, students also learn about the history of theatre and have the opportune access to many varied
texts from throughout history.
Individuality is cherished on this course, and so it's aim is to provide students with the knowledge and experience of
working under many different theologies from many different practitioners. In the following year, students work on
performances for private audiences (for example, schools and families) and then a public audience show in the
summer term. Students experience different performance venues and learn about the stage's versatility and how each
actor must match the adaptability, all whilst also developing what they had learnt in the first year. In the third and
final year, industry showcases and large, full-scale productions are the primary focus of the students, along with
radio show experience and film work. This marks the transition from student of theatre to professional actor. Casting
directors and agents will be in attendance of the industry showcases, and so they are fountains of opportunity - a
student's moment to impress.

Bristol Old Vic is located in, you guessed it, Bristol, right next to the beautiful river avon.

Ali Di Souza, Director of Drama, graduated from Bristol Old Vic, did professional acting work, worked and taught
at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and then came back as a fully formed actor to lead the course. That says
something about how much he values this course.

Bristol Old Vic accepts 28 students out of 2500 applicants each year.

Famous alumni include; Olivia Coleman, Sir Daniel Day Lewis, Naomi Harris, Sir Patrick Stewart, Gene Wilder,
Theo James, and Rosie McEwen.
