Unit 1: Jobs and education

Al finalizar la unidad, el estudiante explica la elección de su carrera para determinar sus retos
utilizando gramática y vocabulario pertinentes.

2. Lesson outcome

At the end of the lesson, you write a composition comparing your university class sessions in the
present and the past (before Covid 19) by using past simple and comparative adjectives.

3. Description

 Step 1:

o Think about your classes in the past (before Covid 19) and try to remember all the events that
happened in your face-to-face classes before, based on questions like this one:

“How were your classes in the past?” (The answer to this question is an idea of what you are going
to write in your paragraph). Example: “I attended my classes at the university campus.”

 Step 2:
Think about your classes in the present and make a list of events that are happening in your online
classes now, based on questions like this one:
“How are your classes now?” (The answer to this question is an idea of what you are going to write
in your paragraph).
 Example: “I attend my classes from home through Zoom now.”
 Step 3:
o Describe your classes in the past and present by using the correct comparative form
of adjectives. For example:

 The classes in the past were more interactive than now.

 I had a busier schedule in the past because I worked and studied.
 Step 4:
o Use questions like these to get more ideas to help you:
 “Is it more difficult or easier to use technology for the sessions?”
 “Are the materials, resources, and rules better?”
 “Is it cheaper or more expensive to study at university now?”
 “Are virtual sessions more flexible than face-to-face classes?”
 Step 5:
o Keep in mind the following:
 Work individually.
 Use the grammar and vocabulary you have studied in the week.
 Use correct spelling and punctuation.
 Make sure your ideas are coherent.
 Avoid using translators.
 Double-check your writing before submitting it.
4. Material

adjectives (more flexible, easier, better, etc.).

antonyms.
My class sessions at the university: then and now

The pandemic began three years ago in March. As the cases increased, the

government implemented containment measures, such as a state of health

emergency, border closures, curfews, and the establishment of exclusive hospitals

for patients with COVID-19. Forcing the closure of all educational centers. For all

mentioned before, virtual modality was implemented.

Before the pandemic, I traveled by bus to get to the university and start my classes, I

am from Sullana and it takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to go to the

university. My classes in face-to-face were more interactive than virtual ones. The

students participated more than now and we could stay longer at the university

finishing some work left.

However, since the pandemic came all changed. Last semester I had to take all my

courses online. At first I was not satisfied, because we were all in virtual mode and

many times the internet connection failed, where the learning session could not be

understood very well, but by the time it improved, I had realized the great difference

between the current classes, with the ones I had before the Covid originated.

The virtual modality definitely is more affordable, it allows you to better adapt your

class schedules, an example of this is when I return from work, now I no longer need

to go elsewhere, I can be listening to the teachers from wherever I am.

In the previous cycle I realized that I had to be more responsible and more organized

with time.

As we now the world will continue changing and we just have to adapt.
