Baptism is among the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church along with Eucharist,

Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing of the sick, Marriage and Holy Order. It is through these
sacraments that we ae to receive the love and gifts of God. By these acts that we can establish a strong
connection with God.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely,
I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19

It is stated in the Bible that Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist and ordered His
disciples to be baptized too. So, it is rightfully to us as Christians and disciples of Christ to be baptized “in
the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit” Matthew 28:19 for the forgiveness of our sins and to
officially enter the church. The promise at the end of the Bible verse Matthew 28:19 “I am with you
always, to the very end of the age’’ stated it all. The very idea of God being by your side is an assurance
that no darkness can swallow you up, that your always guided by His light in traversing a dark valley.
And as a Christian, you must make your end deal of the bargain as well.

You have to respond to your Christian’s calling. The very first step is baptism, holds the rites of
being anointed by holy oil that signifies the bringing of a person and Holy Spirit, they symbolize the gifts
of the Holy Spirit. As disciples of Jesus Christ, our true calling is to use the gifts and talent that are
bestowed upon us to do great things for God’s Kingdom and for all of His people. That is the very
essence of being anointed through my baptism.

One of the gifts that are given to me in my baptism is my “name”. It is not just a group of letters
made by my parents, but a word from the Father above who chose what to call me, “Thompson”. This
is greatly affiliated in the Bible as “son of Thomas” or from “Doubting Thomas” an apostle that didn’t
initially believed the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, my name for me is a perfect reminder
that we should never ever doubt the promises, wonders, and miracles of the Almighty Father.
