Allotropes
 Allotropy is the property of some chemical elements to exist in two or more
different forms, in the same physical state, known as allotropes of the
elements
 Example: Allotropes of carbon: Diamond, Graphite and
Buckminsterfullerene.
Examples of allotropes
 Carbon provides one of the best examples of allotropy.
 Three important allotropes of carbon are diamond, graphite, and fullerenes.
 Black, white, and red phosphorus are the allotropes of phosphorus.
