Management is the process of planning, organizing, directing,
controlling and evaluating to accomplish predetermined objectives of an institution through coordinated use of human and material resources.
Principles of School Management
School Management is a goal-oriented activity. It involves group efforts
and organized work and performance toward the attainment of certain predetermined goals in an educational institution. With active coordinated effort managers can achieve the goals of the organization, by efficiently utilizing the material and human resources in the educational environment. This requires some fundamental principles to be followed. some of them are as follows. 1. Principle of well-defined goals 2. Principle of conducive learning 3. Principle of sharing responsibility 4. Principle of equality 5. Principle of cooperation 6. Principle of Creativity 7. principle of rule of law 8. Principle of community involvement 2) The system of educational institutions and state control.
Education in Ukraine has a structure of the European type and includes
preschool education, general secondary education, extracurricular education, vocational education, higher education, postgraduate education, postgraduate studies, doctoral studies, self-education. In addition, the following educational levels have been established: primary general education, basic general secondary education, complete general secondary education, vocational and technical education, incomplete higher education, basic higher education, complete higher education. According to the Law of Ukraine “On Education”, citizens of Ukraine have the right to receive education in various forms: full-time (full-time), evening, part-time or external. With the development of information technology, distance education is successfully developing and improving. The structure of higher education in Ukraine is built in accordance with the structure of education in developed countries, which is defined by UNESCO, the UN and other international organizations.
The bodies authorized to control the quality of higher education in
Ukraine are the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, State Accreditation Commission, State Inspectorate for Educational Institutions, and Higher Attestation Commission. 4) School system as the object of pedagogical management. Management of education refers to the organisation and allocation of all operations and resources related to education. However, management of education also requires leadership. It covers the entity of structures, regulations and procedures, the management and decision-making processes of education, roles and responsibilities, and pedagogical management. Pedagogical management refers to the management of teaching and learning, and its key areas include curriculum work, teaching staff’s competence and its development, teaching and learning resources, as well as support and promotion of students’ learning.
5) The school principal as a manager of education.
It’s hard to overstate the importance of principals, as they are the
leaders of their schools. They are responsible for many different areas of operations including leadership, teacher evaluation and student well- being.
Principals work with teachers to foster continuous professional
development and coach and evaluate teacher performance. Plus, as managers of their faculty, they’re expected to take on all the typical responsibilities of a manager. On the student front, principals are responsible for discipline and assessing and monitoring the well-being of their students, then taking appropriate action. They also communicate with parents about student issues to cultivate a strong feedback-learning loop between school and home. Principals are deeply involved even from a systematic, organizational perspective. They have heavy input on school budgets and finances and strategically manage other resources.
