Elias is one of the entry song of the band Dicta License. This is one of the comeback
songs of the band after their debut in 2005. The band is known for having bouncy rock political
theme of their songs that narrates some of the political issues of our society. This time their
songs were more about freedom of expression and that one should exercise our rights most
specifically in this problematic situation of Covid -19 to our government.

The Lyrics of the song is very critical but also light in the sense that the first lyrics is all
about getting a new sense of relativity after the darkest time. The story of two characters in Noli
Me Tangere which is Elias and Crisostomo Ibarra were also discussed in one part of the lyrics
about their situations against the oppressors and the powerful ones during their time. It is like a
comparison about the situation in this day that some of the people experienced to be bullied and
oppressed by the strong ones most specifically the government which is very sad reality. That
there are lots of changes in our society but not everyone can adapt these changes and thus
becomes hopeless and passive.

The ideology that we can note to the song is the third and fourth definitions stated in the
module that it is all about the ideology as a form and the ideology that provides unconscious
meaning of some of the text or a particular practices carry or made to carry. If we look deeply to
the unconscious meaning of the song we can exactly know the underlying message which is all
about the harsh doings of the vicious people most likely the government. It is like a story that
tells us that if we will not act accordingly to what the higher ups were into then there will be
problems later on. On the other hand it also provides us to have the courage and to stand up to
the problems of our society that Elias specifically do in the novel which is to fight against the
Spaniard for them to attain the freedom during their time. Moreover, the song is very dramatic
that it provides us a story to look into oneself and could enlightened us into some aspects of our
life like for example the present society we are currently living. At the end of the day what’s
matter is that we should live our lives according to our undertaking and that is all about your
decision (Na Sa Iyo). Lastly as one of the lyrics of the song stated “Salubungin mo ang bagong
umaga na iniwan” which means that we should face the hope of another change.
