INTRODUCTION

: Mabuhay!
: My name is Des. On behalf of our group I'd like to welcome you all to the National
Capital Region.
: Now, let me give you a brief introduction for the National Capital Region.
: The National Capital Region, commonly known as Metro Manila, is the most populous
among the twelve defined metropolitan areas in the Philippines and 11th most populous
in the world. The region is the political, economic, social, cultural, and educational
center of the Philippines.
: Metro Manila consists of 16 cities & 1 municipality, and today, I am going to tour you
on its 5 cities. Navotas City, San Juan City, Pasig City, Pasay City, and Muntinlupa City.
: Let’s head first to Navotas City!
: The city occupies a narrow strip of land along the eastern shores of Manila Bay.
Dubbed as the "Fishing Capital of the Philippines,"
: Navotas is considered to be a very important fishing community, with 70% of its
population deriving their livelihood directly or indirectly from fishing.
: If you are a seafood lover or just someone who likes to go around and see the
everyday life of the people in Navotas, this first destination is perfect for you!
: Here is Agora Market, where fresh and different seafood are being sold. Heading
inside, you will also see a lot of stores selling different types of goods that might be
cheaper and perfect as pasalubong!
: Next stop! “The Navotas Centennial Park”, a waterfront park. The park is fixed with
palm trees and light posts. It also has a few grandstands close to the recreation center's
passageway confronting the Manila Bay. Making it perfect for walking, jogging, or even
skating!

: On to the next destination! The beautiful city of San Juan City! San Juan City is a hub
of history, culture, and commerce throughout the years. It has played host to several
key moments in the history of the nation.
: It is where the first battle of the Philippine Revolution, known as the “Battle of San Juan
Del Monte” took place in 1896. It ignited the patriotism of our forebears and led to the
Philippine Independence in 1898.
: When it comes to leisure and entertainment, San Juan plays host to a variety of
shopping and dining facilities. It is also known as the “tiangge” (flea market) capital of
the Metro with the presence of a pioneer shopping center found in the city – the
Greenhills Shopping Center. The shopping center has become a landmark and pride of
the City.
: If you like spending your money on worthwhile products or you just like to go window
shopping, a visit in Greenhills Shopping Center is a must as it is the crown jewel of the
entire Greenhills complex. It has long established itself as a true haven for one-of-a-kind
finds and as the go-to mall for specialty categories such as clothing, shoes, pearls,
electronics, and more.
: San Juan may be a highly urbanized city, but you can still enjoy historical sites in the
area. After all, the city is the site of the first battle of Katipunan in the 1896 revolution
against the Spanish. Pinaglabanan Memorial Shrine found along Pinaglabanan Street
pays tribute to the heroism of the Katipuneros. Nearby is the Pinaglabanan Church,
which caters to the spiritual needs of the Catholic population of several barangays in the
city.
: You can also, drop by the historical Club Filipino, the first exclusive social club in the
Philippines, Zamora says. Founded by Spanish mestizos in 1898, Club Filipino was a
favorite meeting place of Filipino progressives during the Martial Law. It is also the site
of a number of political events, including the inauguration of Corazon C. Aquino as the
11th Philippine President on February 25, 1986.
: As it San Juan is known as the place of the 1st battle of the Philippine Revolution, you
may also find and visit here the “El Polvorin” where the Filipino revolutionaries launched
their first attack in El Povorin in the 1890s to accumulate more weapons for their battle
against Spanish forces. This is where they used to store the armaments during the
Spanish time. This is now in San Juan Elementary school. It’s not a storage that you
often see but this is where they stored armaments back then.

Manila as it is known to have an environment-friendly initiatives led by its local
government making it recognized as a one of the most livable cities in the world in 2013.
Pasig is also known for its eclectic cosmopolitan lifestyle, for its numerous famous

on its museum to appreciate and reflect more about its history and in your faith. Inside
the museum, you can see various items on display such as icons, garments, photos of
the old Pasig Church and some of the other churches of diocese. The collection is not
that vast but it’s worth checking out considering the rich history of the church and the
fact that not many churches have a museum.

Pasay City!
: Pasay City, being a home to many hotels, casinos, restaurants, shopping malls, and
