The first sentence of the Introcluction shall be amended to read as follows:

Until a European Standard is published on the design and construction of steel road bridges and footbridges (as in
DIN 18 809) and composite steel and concrete structures (as in DIN 18 806-i), the March 1981 edition of this Standard shatl
remain applicable alongside the present edition.
The following appendix shall be added to form an integral part of this Standard:

Appendix B
Ultimate limit state analysis for straightforward cases
Where the elastic-elastic method (cf. subclause 7.5.2) is used for ultimate limit state analysis, analyses to DIN 18800-2,
DIN 18 800-3 and DIN 18 800-4 are not required and the plastic capacity of Cross section is not utilized as permitted in items
(749) and (750), the limit Stresses ~a,~ and ~a,~ in equations (33) to (35) of item (747) may be increased by IO %.
NOTE 1: Exemption from the analysis as specified in DIN 18 800-2 presupposes that the criteria set out in items (739)
and (740) are satisfied, i.e. analysis according to second Order theory and the verification of lateral-torsional buckling
are not required.
NOTE 2: Exemption from the analysis as specified in DIN 18800-3 presupposes that the grenz (blr) values given in
tables 12 and 13 are compiied with.
NOTE 3: Exemption from the analysis as specified in DIN 18800-4 presupposes that the grenz (cllr) values given in
table 14 are complied with.
