CHAPTER V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSION AND


RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the conclusions and the

recommendations that the researcher has come up starting from

the conceptualization of the project, implementation, testing or

experiment and evaluation of the results.

Summary of findings

The development of the Digital pole alignment device takes

time, from trial and errors and numerous customizations of the

device, until the researcher came up with a better and reliable

design. Upon the fabrication of the device with the different PCB’s

and sensors, the researcher found out that the ADXL345 sensor

is very sensitive and fragile so replacing it with the ADXL345

module is the best choice paired with the fast microprocessor

ATMega328P. In designing the orientation of the accelerometer

sensor, 90 degrees will be the accelerometers reference point

which displays zero at 90 degrees vertically. As the data from

table 1 and table 2 shown above, the difference between the

manually measured angle using protractor and the device reading

is above the 90 percent efficient based on testing phase. With the

successful output of the device, the enclosure of the device is

rigid that can withstand drops and external shock and the

flat wall of the device should be laid flat on the pole or other

subject. The researcher noticed that some utility poles are

designed to be slightly narrow going to its top, its effect in the

positioning of the device was reduced because of the device’s

size.

Conclusion

The Digital pole alignment device primary goal is to help or

aid workers especially in the construction and alignment of

beams, utility poles and other support structures. With the

enclosure design that is made up of plastic made it the best

choice in terms of weight and other physical properties, also it can

protect the components against corrosion and other external

shocks. With the use of Arduino Uno’s ATMega328P

microprocessor and the ADXL345 module which is the cheapest

modules in the market helps the researcher achieved a cheap yet

efficient device.

Overall, the device output is good and based on the

researcher’s goals in developing the device is achieved, also its

reliability is good based on the pilot testing. When it comes to the

durability, the enclosure is doing well but on the internal modules,

it takes time to test its lifespan but with the price it is still a good

choice.

Recommendation

Based on the results of the study, the following are

suggested recommendations:

To the Utility Companies. The researcher would like to

recommend to the utility companies to test and use the device in

order to achieve accurate alignment on utility poles.

To the Buyers. The researcher would like to recommend

this device to the consumers, it is handy, cheap and efficient. It

can also be used as replacement to the traditional plumb bob.

To the Future Researchers. The researcher would like to

recommend to the future researchers to enhance or improve this

prototype by using more efficient sensors, rigid and aesthetically

nice enclosure with additional features or alarm system when the

correct angle is reached. Also, the device can be converted into

wireless monitoring system for the alignment of poles.
