BARGE.2008-2010
Employed as motorman filling in for chief aboard dive support crane barge.responsible for
maintenance and watch of main engines,auxiliaries. twin deutz main 600 hp and aux,start up
and shut down procedures.maintenance of pump ballast tanks and seacocks,fuel lines refueling
and filters,lub servicing and greasing .responsible for all deck related machinery, merc
compressors, volvo water pumps,main deck crane detroit 80 ton,operating and maintenance of
winches and anchor handling.Responsible for fuelling and maintenance of all machinery and
daily checks start up and shut down procedures and to assist barge master and dive crew in
installation of pipelines as required.

CAS-GLOBAL (HORTEN IN NORWAY) 2010

Employed as motorman/mechanic aboard KNM HORTEN to assist chief and second engineers
in preparing ship for sale certification and sea trials after lengthy lay up period in home port in
Norway.We had to drain,vent,clean and inspect all main fuel & service tanks prior to taking on
fresh fuel.All main fuel transfer systems had to be stripped inspected and repaired as necessary
before firing up main engines and auxiliaries for load test and inspection.
Both main engines and 4 aux generators & emergency back up required major repairs to
cooling systems,intercoolers,pumps and lubrication systems due to corrosion from electrolysis
after lengthy lay up.powered up hydraulic systems and check operation on full system through
ship and repair as required.Repair all leaks in cooling systems,hydraulic systems,fuel systems
and sewage systems.Inspect and repair winches anchor and chains.service auxiliary ribs and
check operation of launching equipment and davits,service both main deck cranes.make good
all fire escapes,pumps,hatches and vents,check operation of all electrical systems and back up
redundancy systems.servicing and maintenance of ships F.R.C,life rafts & equipment.
All sewage and pumping systems inspected and repaired.Above is just example of work I was
involved in aboard KNM HORTEN,ex Norwegian military to prepare for sea trials and DNV
certification prior to passage to Ramsgate to new owners.

CORRY MOTORS BROADFORD SKYE 2010-2012.

Employed as mechanic for cars,lgv,hgv,psv,4x4,atv and agricultural.mot/recovery.repairing also
a large turnover of all types of 4x4s.responsible for day to day running of business,dealing with
customers,parts,invoices and billing etc.strip and repair cylinder heads,engines,timing
belts,pumps,clutches,brakes,suspension and axles on landrover,Nissan,toyota,Isuzu etc.

Between 1990 and present time I have worked on 10 of Johns boats as deckhand/motorman
and also as second in charge to skipper taking responsibility for watchkeeping steering and
nightshift to let skipper off.
I was responsible for service and maintenance of main engines and auxiliaries(caterpillar 550hp
and twin Cummings Aux),lub and fuel filters and servicing fuel lines.servicing of pumps impellers
and seacocks,replacing hydraulic pipes,maintenance of main winches,conveyor belts,oil
coolers,cooling systems,pipes and pumping systems,drive belts,couplings and shafts.general
maintenance and repairs welding and cutting,deck maintenance,operating deck machinery and

Over 30 years on boats been involved in mainly maintenance service and repair of engine
rooms on cats,kelvins,scanias,cummings,deutz and all associated engine room deck
machinery,pumps shafts and equipment.
At various times between 1990-2014 I have been employed by John Macallister as motorman
and second to skipper as required aboard these scallop dredgers.

landrover,county's,90s,110,200tdi,300tdi up to TD 5.fitting of clutches,gearboxes,axles and
shafts,swivel hubs and bearings,brakes,chassis repair for mot.engine removal and repair.
As well as land rover experience I have carried out full engine chassis repairs on most types of
Japanese 4x4s including Toyota,Nissan,Isuzu etc.

Interests are off-roading 4x4 or quad/trail biking and getting away with the tents and doing a bit
of camping and travel.

Good all round experience on various different types of boats.willing to undertake any training
necessary,can work on own initiative and take responsibility for my own work.Available for
immediate start.
I have my own house based in Oban 5 minutes from ferry,full clean driving licence with C1+E
including ADR & CPC and own transport.
Fish farm experience with marine harvest and golden sea produce which both included boat
work and maintenance.
Between Oban,Skye and mull I have also worked on several other creel boats fishing for
lobsters,prawns and crabs and was responsible for servicing and maintenance and on
occasions complete engine removal and refitting for renewal of drive plates/couplings.
