5 Filipino Entrepreneurs

1. Tony Tan Caktiong is the founder of Jollibee, Tony is a Chinese


immigrant family who went to the Philippines. Tony was born on
January 5, 1953 in Fujian, fast forward to 1975. Tony had an ice
cream shop back in the day, but owing to low sales he decided to add
other items such as chicken, fries, and burgers. In 1978 when the
family formally inaugurated Jollibee in the Philippines until now.
2. Mariano Que is the founder of Mercury Drug, Que, who had worked
at a local drugstore before the war, opened his own drugstore he
began selling good-quality sulfa for a low price. He was able to
expand his clintele. In 1945, he founded the Mercury Drug chain of
Pharmacies, Que’s knowledge of pharmaceutical principles
propelled him to success.

3. Henry Sy is the founder of Shoe Mart, SM for short Sy, on the other
hand, continued to pursue his entrepreneurial interests by selling
worn military combat boots and other items to American soldiers.
The Shoe Mart originates in Manila it was Manila's first shoe store at
the time.

4. Cresida Tueres was the founder of Greenwich Pizza in 1971. Tueres


had a natural talent for cooking; her family and friends were so taken
with her food that they supported Tueres. Jollibee Foods Corp,
impressed by tueres' commercial Jollibee Food Corp, struck an
agreement in 1994 to buy 80 percent of Greenwich's stock and the
company was renamed Greenwich in 1994 after the agreement.
