approximately 4m (13’ 2”) L, 3.4m (11’ 2”) W, 2’ 5” H.

The body of the hood shall be constructed from 15 gauge stainless steel with integral
condensation gutter all round. The body shall be properly reinforced with 1½” x 1½” x 1-1/8”
aluminium angles to give good rigidity The interior shall be fitted with filter housing complete
with approved type of filter element. Filter housing shall be so constructed that the filter
elements can be readily removed from renewal or washing. The filter shall be 14 nos. 2” thick
and arranged in a V assembly. A drip tray shall be incorporated below the grease filters. The
hood shall incorporate three(3) exhaust fans.

The exhaust fan shall be aerofoil type and 1440 rpm delivering 9500 cfm against a static
pressure at 15 w.g. The motor shall be suitable for operation on 415/50/3 supply. The motor
shall be fully enclosed, fume resistant and fully tropocalised. The electric motor shall be rated
of not less than 5kW.

The hood shall be properly suspended from the building structure by means of 1½” x 1½” x
1/16” aluminium angles.

The exhaust duct shall be of circular or rectangular cross-sections and shall be constructed of 18
gauges stainless steel.

The constructor shall provide a switchboard for the system complete with isolator, starters,
contactors, etc. and conduit wiring. A suitable starter, overload protection devices and under
voltage relay shall be incorporated in the motor circuit.

Type of Fan: Aerofoil Fan c/w silencer

Noise Level: 75 db

2) Guide Rail

This guide rails shall be constructed of 50mm diameter stainless steel tubes for fixing to
reinforced concrete slab. Brackets to be fixed at 1200mm intervals. The guide rails to be fixed
as the same height as the top of the slab or stainless steel equipment.

3) Tray Slide

The tray slide shall be of all stainless steel construction. It shall be constructed from stainless
steel pressed inverted ‘V’ to stainless steel brackets for fixing to wall at convenient height.
Brackets shall be fixed at 4’ – 0’ centres. The from facia shall be of 16 swg stainless steel. The
overall dimensions or approximately of 5705 x 305 x 305mm H.

4) Gas Piping and Ancillaries

a) General

The L.P. gas installation shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s specification and
comply with the rules and regulations of local authorities and the relevant clauses of the
British Standard Code of Practice CP 331.

b) Gas Cylinders

The gas cylinders shall be of the 50kg type and arranged in two bank, such that at any one
time only one bank known as ‘duty bank’ will be supplying gas while the other bank acts
as ‘standby’. In the event the duty bank is exhausted, gas shall then be drawn off from
the standby bank, this allowing replacement of the exhausted cylinders in the former bank
without interrupting supply. Means shall be provided to enable gas draw-off from either
banks using change over valves.

The gas cylinders shall also be provided with pigtails for connection to the gas manifold.

The LPG cylinders shall be registered in the name of the government (Client Department)
and as such cylinder deposits are waived and it should not be priced for in the tender.
However, the Contractor shall pay for the gas only and this shall be priced for in the
tender.

The Sub-Contractor shall supply and fix a sign board with words “MERBAHAYA BILIK
GAS” of 2” high white lettering on red background to cylinder gas store.

c) Cylinder Manifold

The cylinder manifold shall be of seamless heavy grade wrought steel to B.S. 1740 or
copper and rigidly supported to the wall using heavy duty clamps.

The individual components of the cylinder manifold such as pipings, fittings, valves
etc. which are subjected to cylinder pressure shall be suitable for L.P.G. supply and able
to withstand a test pressure of 20kg/cm2 or 2½ times the maximum pressure
(corresponding to the assessed temperature) of the cylinders, whichever is greater.

Joints in manifold headers which do not have to be broken in normal use shall be welded
(for steel) or silver brazed (for copper) using a material which must have a melting point
of at least 540oC. Any other joints shall be screwed taper to taper threads to B.S. 21. The
jointing compound shall be of a type, which is resistant to L.P.G. and remains plastic, and
shall be applied on the male thread only. Hemp and similar other materials must not be
used in pipe joints.

d) Pressure Regulator

Pressure regulators shall be ‘Rego’, ‘Fisher’ or approved equipment. It shall be capable

of handling the likely offtake of the gas at the required pessure.

The pressure regulator shall be two stage and capable of reducing the gas pressure to the
require pressure before supply to all the equipment.

The pressure regulator shall be rigidly installed and provided with a vent line to the
outside air with the discharge outlet not less than 1000mm horizontally away from any
building opening below the discharge outlet.

e) Gas Pipes and Fittings

Gas pipes shall be copper to BS 659 or galvanized seamless heavy grade steel pipe to B.S.
1387, joined by screwed taper to taper threads to B.S. 21. The jointing compound must
be of the type which is resistant to L.P.G. and remains plastic and it shall be applied to the
male thread only. Hemp and other similar materials must not be used in pipe joints.

The pipe shall be adequately sized such that each burner are supplied with the required
gas rate and pressure and any likely increase in the estimated gas offtake should be
allowed for.

The pipings are to be free internally and externally of cutting burrs, loose scale, dirt, dust,
moisture and other foreign matters before the installation are completed.

All pipe joints should be screwed, welded (for steel) or silver brazed (for copper) with a
material having a melting point exceeding 1000oF. Joints with valves or other devices,
which are removable for servicing, are excluded from this recommendation.

All joints, bends, elbow and tees in copper or steel pipes shall be made strictly using the
appropriate fittings. Bending, drilling, welding pipes to create tees or turnings are not
allowed. Piping shall be so located or protected as to avoid extreme of temperature which
might give rise to condensation or cracking on the gas.
