Introduction (Episode 1)-Easier Laugh Than Done (Pt.

1)
Lucas: Hello my name is Lucas and this is my co-host Joy.
Joy: Welcome to our podcast: Easier Laugh than Done. For the first episode of our podcast,
Easier Laugh than Done, part one. We will include the great lives of comedians and their
accomplishments. Lucas: These famous comedians include Redd Foxx, Eddie Murphy, Kevin Hart,
Louis C. K, and Norm Macdonald.
Joy: Have you ever heard of comedian C.S. Lewis?
Lucas: Yes I have, but he is an author, not a comedian. Don’t you mean Louis C.K.
Joy: Oh yeah! He was the one who won 3 peabody awards, 3 Grammy awards, 6 Prime-Time
Emmy awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and many more awards for his stand-up specials.
Lucas: Yes, exactly. Louis Alfred Székely was born September 12, 1967 and began his career in
1990 writing for comedians including, David Letterman, Conan O'brian, and Chris Rock.
Joy: He also directed short films. In 2001 he released his debut comedy album Live in Houston and
went on to release 8 more albums.
Lucas: Now that you know a little bit about Louis C.K. , the next comedian I would like to introduce
is-
Joy: Can we go to Macdonald’s? It says it in the script and I’m really confused.
Lucas: Will you be quiet! So where was I-
Joy: Yeah! You were saying we should go to Macdonald’s!
Lucas: Shut up! Finally, the comedian I would like to introduce is-
Joy: NORMAN MACDONALD!
Lucas: I give up.
Joy: Norman Macdonald was a Canadian stand-up comedian, actor and writer. He was born
October 17, 1959 in Quebec City. His comedic style was slow, almost stuttering deadpan, and
old-fashioned phrases.
Lucas: He first gained popularity when he was hired for SNL as a cast member. He spent almost
five seasons on the show from 1993-1998-
Joy: He died from Leukemia in September 2021.
Lucas: Hey! I was supposed to say that!
Joy: You snooze, you lose.
Lucas: Ughh, fine, let’s move onto the next comedian, but before a quick word from our sponsor.

Joy: Oh no! What did I possibly do wrong!
Lucas; Gee, I don’t know Joy, maybe you know, the names!
Joy: Ummm. Eddie Smurph! Edith Murphay! OH I know! Eddie Scissorhands!!!
Lucas: FOR GOODNESS SAKE, HIS NAME IS EDDIE MURPHY.
!!!
Joy: I knew it was Edison Mobert!
Lucas: Yes, Eddie Murphy was born April 3rd 1961 in Brooklyn, New York.
Joy: He is an American actor, comedian and singer.
Lucas: He was ranked #10 on comedy central list of the 100 greatest comedians stand-ups of all
time. He also participated in SNL.
Joy: As a child, he imitated multiple characters. He created a grown-up version of the character
Buckwheat from the movie The Little Rascals.
Lucas: He filmed and scripted Mulan, the Shrek Series, and Daddy Daycare.
Joy: Others who influenced him include Bill Crosby, and Redd Foxx.
Lucas: Speaking of Red Foxx, we should move on to our next comedian, which just happens to be-
Joy: Elton John Stunnfurd
Lucas: I keep thinking that one day, you will finally get these stupid names right, but you continue
to amaze me. His name is literally in the script, and if you are wondering about his birth name, it’s
John Elroy Stanford.
Joy: He was born December 9, 1992, and he died October 1991. He was 69 at the time of passing.
Lucas: Redd Foxx was an American stand-up comedian and actor.
Joy: He did black, blue and insult comedy
Lucas: Random fact: Redd Foxx had four wives!
Joy: He had a nightclub act that proved very successful, so successful that Dinah Washington
insisted he come to LA.
Lucas: Onto the next, and final comedian,-
Joy: Our next comedian Garfield from Garfield, a furr-midable comedian! You know? Cause he’s a
cat-
Lucas: That’s it! I quit.
Joy: Oh that’s just claw-ful! I thought I was doing purr-fectly feline!
Lucas: THAT'S ENOUGH,
Joy: Paw-don me, I thought my performance was claw-less.
Lucas: YOU’RE A CATASTROPHE! *pause* Oh no, did I just make a cat pun?
Joy: Yep, you did
Lucas: Pretend that never happened. *clears throat* our next comedian is Kevin Hart
Joy: He was born in Purr-ladelphia and he had an older brother name Robert E. Hart
Lucas: Kevin Darnell Hart had many daddy issues and used humor/comedy to cope with his
troubled life.
Joy:He had a slow start to his stand-up career and started a few comedy competitions and the
audience thought he was purr-fect.
Lucas: It also took him a while to start a comedic style. (Quote)” Because of what I do, it has to be
an open book. But, right now it is a book that is being written.
Joy: He also starred in many movies one of them being Secret Life of Pets.

Introduction (Episode 2)- Easier Laugh Than Done (Pt. 2)

Joy: Welcome to the second episode of our podcast: Easier Laugh than Done, part two. Today we
will continue to go into depth on different types of comedy and how they shape this world.
Lucas: Our first style of comedy is… Deadpan
Joy: To understand this type of comedy, you must learn this story. It begins in 1915 with a baseball
player and his coach. The baseball player was a ventriloquist and he made it seem like the crowd
was aggressively shouting at them when they weren’t. He never cracked a smile so no one would
believe it was actually him, his expression was deadpan, hence the name.
Lucas: Deadpan is a style of comedy that involves dry, witty humor, when saying ridiculous things
or situations.
Joy: One of the keys to being able to perform deadpan properly, is as little emotion as possible, or
emotional neutrality, and then to whap you audience with the most ridiculous and funny situations,
completely stunning them.
Lucas: It must be blunt, ironic, or seemingly unintentional, and it is quite difficult to achieve.
Joy: A few examples of famous deadpan comedians are: Steve Harvey, Eve Arden, and Fred
Armisen.
Lucas: Our next style of comedy is-
Joy: Oh Lucas, have I told you that you suck at recording podcasts. You’re really bad and it makes
me truly want to vomit-
Lucas: Ouch
Joy: That being said, this brings us to our next type of comedy, INSULT COMEDY!
Lucas: Insult comedy consists of offensive insults directed at the audience, other performers
and/or the town hosting the performance.
Joy: Due to this factor, the comedian must maintain a competitive and interactive relationship with
the audience, it’s also described as festive abuse. By the way, Lucas, you’re really bad at talking
about the information we’re researching-
Lucas: It’s usually used to deflect or silence haters.
Joy: Sorry, I can’t listen to you anymore, lets cue the ads
Ad #2: Smooth, silky, like a newborn’s baby’s bUTT, ultra fine paper, only in stores today. For a
limited time for 99 999.99 per sheet, only sold at the paper company. Paper, proudly giving
Canadians excruciatingly deep paper cuts for thousands of years.
Joy: From this we’ve discovered that other people’s pain or discomfort is hilarious. Anyways,
Lucas you really need to get better at talking in front of a microphone-
Lucas: The inexplicable ability to make a crowd of people laugh even when deliveries are complete
insults, is truly a skill you have to master. Some people who have mastered it are Louis C.K,
Frankie Boyle, Bill Hicks and Eddie Murphy.
Joy: Sadly, we have to move on, even though Lucas’s discomfort is a sure form of entertainment.
Lucas: *ahem* The next type of comedy is slapstick. *pause* No way! I wasn’t interrupted this
time! It’s a miracle-
Joy: Slapstick is a physical form of comedy full of absurd situations and violent actions.
Lucas: This type of comedy is usually executed by an acrobat, stunt performer, or a magician, all of
them master of action and perfect timing
Joy: This style of comedy got its name from a slapstick, a harmless piece of wood that made a loud
noise when someone struck it.
Lucas: It was a prominent feature of Greek and Roman mime and pantomime where bald and
heavily padded clowns exchange whips and beatings to the audience's delight.
Lucas: And now, onto our final, our fantastic-
Joy: You know, I’ve been feeling really down recently, I do think I could really try harder and really
make the way I’m speaking better. I feel like I’m not doing good enough.
Lucas: It’s self-deprecating humor! Where there are sarcastic, mean comments toward yourself.
Joy: This is similar to insult comedy except all rudeness is directed toward yourself.
Lucas: When people say negative things about themselves, personal things, personality traits,
something straightforward like “ Anyone else in here hate themselves too?”, or being excessively
modest.
Lucas: Self-deprecating humor can have a positive impact, especially on social media because
people can relate to you. But it can also be detrimental to your health because you’re building a
barrier and aren’t seeking help for the way you’re feeling.
Joy: Some comedians who do this style of comedy include Woody Allen, Nathan Fielder, Don
Knotts and Joan Rivers.
Lucas: That’s it! That’s all! We’re done!
Joy: We’re not doing the last type of comedy, parody-
Lucas: NO, IF I AM IN PROXIMITY WITH YOU FOR 2 MORE SECONDS I WILL-
Joy: Anyways I hope you enjoyed this podcast and tune in for more episodes!
Lucas: Disclaimer, we will not have anymore episodes, this was a one time thing.
