- Cooperation proposal -
1. Cooperation theme:
Experimental evaluation of the stress-strain response, pore pressure and other mechanical
properties of Tunis soft soil reinforced with different percentages of plastic waste by triaxial
testing.

2. Methodology and planned activities :

Sample preparation :
 Reconstitution of Tunis soft clay,
 Mixing by three percentages of waste plastic grains,
 The pre-consolidation of these samples under the vertical stress applied in the field,
 Containment of specimens in the triaxial box,
 Triaxial box shear test.
3. Target skills :

 The desired tasks are essentially :

 A simple compression test to determine the evolution of the stress deviator as a
function of the deformation of samples reinforced and unreinforced by plastic waste.
 Study of the influence of the addition of plastic waste on the shear strength and
intrinsic fracture properties of Tunis soft soil mixed with this type of additive.
 The unconsolidated undrained (UU) test to determine short-term characteristics.
 Consolidated undrained test with pore pressure measurement (CU+U) for long-term
characteristics and to estimate pore pressure variation in the presence of plastic waste
