The Ugly Duckling

One bright spring morning, aside the river, a mother duck was really happy that her
eggs had begun to hatch. She could not wait to see her little ducklings.
“Cheep! Cheep!” chirped the chicks. One by one, they came into the mother duck’s
sight.
The mother duck felt so pleased and proud of her fluffy ducklings. However, she
wondered why one of her ducklings looked different from the others. It looked ugly with
its bigger and grey body.
“Quack! Quack! How can that duckling be one of mine?” she wondered. “He is so big
and ugly! Look at that dirty fur!”
All the other chicks treated Sammy, the ugly duckling, so meanly. They always teased
him by his appearance. They also did not want to play or even talk to him.
Poor Sammy was very sad. “I don’t belong here.” He cried.
One day, he decided to leave his mother and siblings. He looked for someone to be his
friend. Soon, he came to a pond where some other ducks were playing, but no one wanted
to be hid friend. Then, poor Sammy waddled away.
On his way, he saw another pond. There were some beautiful swan geese. He was in
doubt at first, but the swans called him instead. “Hi! What are you looking for? Come play
with us!” they shouted.
Sammy felt surprised but he soon ran to the pond and right at the time he swam in, he
looked at his reflection. How surprised he was to see how beautiful he turned into
