EXPORT CORNER
• India sets $800 per ton minimum export price on onions and a 40 per cent
export duty on onions up to December 31 to improve domestic availability of the
vegetable.
• APEDA and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare reported a 19%
increase in mango exports during the first five months of the ongoing financial
year. India has exported mangoes worth $47.98 million, compared to $ 40.33
million during the same period last year. Together, they facilitated the export of
27,330.02 MT of mangoes from April to August 2023. India's mango exports to
the USA alone surged by 19%, totaling 2043.60 MT in these first five months.
Aside from the USA, India exported mango to Japan (43.08 MT), New Zealand
(110.99 MT), Australia (58.42 MT), and South Africa (4.44 MT). India also
expanded its mango exports to 41 countries, exploring new markets in Iran,
Mauritius, the Czech Republic, and Nigeria.
• At the 7th edition of Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2023, Professor Abhay
Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST),
highlighted India’s advancements in 5G technology and said that India could
lead 6G standardization and dominate global tech exports.
• Speaking at the inauguration of India Mobile Congress, Communications
Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s
clear vision and leadership, the telecom sector has achieved several milestones
on connectivity, affordability and standards and is emerging as a telecom
technology developer, exporter and leader.
• Big relief for basmati farmers in Punjab and Haryana as Centre slashes
export price - Punjab and Haryana are the major basmati rice exporters. In
the last financial year, their exports were to the tune of Rs 33,000 crore. In
a big relief for basmati farmers and exporters, the Union government has
reduced the minimum export prices (MEP) of basmati rice to $950 per
tonne from $1200 per tonne announced in August. This reduction is
expected to greatly benefit basmati growers, ensuring better prices for their
crops.
• In July this year, India banned the export of non-basmati white rice amid
depleting public stock in the Central pool, elevated cereal prices, and
looming threat of the uneven monsoon.

to implement the proposed solutions and monitor progress effectively.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with a commitment from both Haryana
and WANFENG ALUMINUM WHEEL (INDIA) PRIVATE LIMITED Wheel to work
closely together in advancing supply chain management in the region, with a focus
on efficiency, sustainability, and skill development.

Health-related discussions might encompass sharing best practices in healthcare,
public health, and medical research. Collaborative efforts could be explored, such
as training healthcare professionals, addressing healthcare infrastructure gaps, or
engaging in health awareness campaigns.

development programs, and curriculum sharing. Ethiopian students to study in
Haryana's educational institutions or vice versa fostering cross-cultural
understanding and knowledge transfer.

Trade discussions would likely involve exploring avenues to enhance bilateral trade
between Haryana and Ethiopia.
5. Mutual Interests:
The meeting would be an opportunity
to identify and align mutual interests,
ensuring that both Haryana and Ethiopia
benefit from the collaboration and for
the capacitybuilding . Joint ventures,
investment opportunities, & cooperation
in various sectors would be explored.
6. Diplomatic Relations:
Both parties would discuss how to maintain a positive and constructive relationship
going forward. The relationship with the Ethiopian Embassy In India & Ethiopia
Investment Centre will serve as a platform for laying the groundwork for future
collaboration, which can be mutually beneficial for both regions.
