I love reading books. They are indeed my ‘best friends’. Some days ago, my uncle gave me one as a birthday gift

Global Warming
Global warming is the latest alarm bell for earth’s environment. It refers to the increase in average temperature
of earth’s surface during the last century. It is alarming because of its adverse effects on the ecological balance
of earth. The most evident causes are industrialisation, urbanisation, deforestation and related human activities.
These activities have led to increased emission of greenhouse, gases like CO2, methane, NO2, etc. These gases in
turn have led to an increase in average temperature of earth’s surface, hence global warming.
It is a wake-up call for us to amend our ways of living to limit like use of products that cause global warming. It
is necessary to save our planet Earth otherwise it will become to difficult to survive.

Sir
Through the column of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to bring the attention of the concerned authorities towards
the sheer neglect of the roads and drains in the locality where I live. The condition of the roads is very poor. There
are potholes everywhere which pose a threat to the lives of two-wheeler riders who are at a risk or serious accidents.
Similar is the pathetic conditions of drains. The drains are left open and the problem worsens during rains when
they start overflowing and stinking.
