Navigate to the “control panel” location of your laptop. Double click on the Add/Remove
Programs icon.
Once the program list populates scroll down and find any previously installed version
PEAK Can software. Select these and click remove. Repeat for all installed versions.
In the next dialog box select ‘I agree to……’ and then click “Next”.
In the next dialog box allow the program to install to the default directory shown
then click “Next”.
In the next dialog box select: ‘Anyone who uses this computer’ then click “Next”.
There are 2 PEAK PCAN Driver files that must be installed in the correct order.
Double click on the file “PcanDriver_2011.2.exe” next.
In the next dialog box select ‘I agree to…….’ then click “Next”.
In the next dialog box allow the program to install to the default directory shown,
then click “Next”.
In the next dialog box select: PCAN-USB, PCAN-Dongle, and PCAN-View, then click “Next”.
In the next dialog box select: ‘Anyone who uses this computer’ then click “Next”.
After the PEAK software has finished installing you must restart
your laptop. When the laptop turns off completely (screen goes
black) but before it begins to reboot you must plug the PEAK
CAN USB dongle into a USB port. Doing so allows the Windows
software “Hardware Install Wizard” to find the PEAK dongle.
When prompted enter your user name and password.
Note: The USB port used for the installation must always be
used when connecting the dongle to the laptop otherwise the
dongle may not be recognized by the software.

Hardware Wizard Opens
When the control panel opens (it should be set for ‘Classic
View’) locate the PCAN2 icon. Double click the icon to open.
