Household chores

Most people have to do houshold chores regularly. There is some housework people absolutely hate,
and some they like i tor not. People usually enjoy comfort, tasty food, spotlessly clean clothes so
someone must take care of these things. I think it is easier to do the housework if the members of
the family share it, keeping the house tidy is the job of everyone in the house.

Not just women should do the housework. Women go to work; somethimes they have high positions
at a company. In most cases they also look after the kids. Therefore in my opinion, men sould do
their best to help at home. Nowadays, most men are trying to do so.

As I see it, in an avarage family the mother focused on jobs like cooking, ironing, cleaning, doing the
dishes. The faters prefers some kind of physical work such as mowing the lawn, doing DIY, washing
the car, gardening as well as fixing and repairing things. Children can help around the home but
maybe it also depends on how old they are.

Younger kids can at least put their toys away after they played with them. Later they can help do
some simple chores such as helping prepare food or putting the plates, knives, forks and spoons and
other things on the table or clearing away the dishes and washing up. Also, kids usually make their
own beds and tidy their rooms. In Hungary it is more traditional that girls help with the housework.
There are certain tasks that the family can do together, for example, shopping at the supermarket
could be a kind of family programme.

Nowadays I help relatively much at home althought it wasn’t always lke this. I admit, that when I was
younger, I used to live my books, toys and other stuff in a mess. But now, for example, I make my bed
every day. I and my brother clean our rooms in turns. Of course somethimes we quarrel with each
other about who should do the housework, but we have a schedule, and try to follow it.

At weekends we usually have a big clean up. I usually clean the bathroom, I scrub the sink and the
bath, and then I washed the floor. To be honest, I dont really enjoy this task. I also clean my room
thoroughly. I use the vacuum cleaner to clean the carpet, and then I dust the shelves and other
objects. I especially like cleaning the windows although I don’t do it very often. Maybe it sound
funny, but while cleaning the windows I turn ont he music and breathe int he fresch air from outside,
so it makes me feel relaxed. Another thing I like a lot is watering plants and flowers. Somethimes I
wipe the indoors plants with a wet cloth or sprinkle them with a sprayer. Unfortunately I can’t tell
any other housework thet is as easy as this.
