POLICE CODE OF ETHICS- código de etica

As a police officer I have the fundamental obligation to serve society, protect

lives and property; defend the innocent from deception, the weak from
oppression and intimidation; use peace against violence and disorder and
respect the constitutional rights of liberty, equality and justice of all men. I
will lead a blameless life as an example to all; I will show courage and calm in
the face of danger, contempt, abuse or opprobrium; I will practice moderation
in everything and will constantly keep in mind the welfare of others. I will be
honest in my thinking and in my actions; Both in my personal and
professional life, I will be an example in compliance with the laws and
regulations of my institution. Anything that I observe of a confidential nature
or that is entrusted to me in the exercise of my official duties, I will keep
secret unless disclosure is necessary in the line of duty. I will never act
illegally or allow personal feelings, prejudices, animosities or friendships to
They influence my decisions. I will be inflexible but fair with criminals and I
will enforce the laws in a courteous and appropriate manner, without fear or
favour, without malice or ill will, without using violence or unnecessary force
and without ever accepting rewards. I recognize that the motto God and
Country symbolizes the faith of the public and that I accept it on behalf of the
trust of my fellow citizens and that I will keep it as long as it remains faithful
to the principles of police ethics. I will constantly fight to achieve these
objectives and ideals, dedicating myself before God to the chosen profession:
THE POLICE.

LORD OF YOURSELF- señor de ti mismo

When you patrol the city and feel,

That it is your sacred mission to guard it;

When you watch the sleep of others,

And believe in the apostolate of your guard;

When the echo of your footsteps in the night,

Bring peace of mind and trust,

And you represent peace in every corner,

Under the serene control of your gaze,

When the cold and the sun bite your flesh,

Without a muscle moving in your face;

When fear penetrates your bowels;

And find there an altar of Christian faith,

When you have the humility of the brave,

To order to do what costs more,

And men follow you by yourself

Even if you go towards death;

When you impose respect and discipline,

With your single presence before anyone;

When no one ever judges your conduct,

Because you don't give room so they can,

And the code of honor that guides your actions,

Mark the vital north of your existence;

When at dawn you look at the sky,

Thanking God to be able to say present,

When the list of dead day by day,

Do outstanding debts mean to you,

And in the crying of orphans and widows,

Find an incentive to fight;

When the hot groove of a bullet,

Break the black mirror of silence;

When a bloody carnation blooms

On your partner's chest,

And you raise a prayer to the Lord,

No rancor, no complaint, no regret;

When you should shoot and your shot,

Be without hate and at the same time accurate;

When you accept to die alone in a street,

Having the firmament as a shroud,

And aspire to form together with the others,

Who make guards next to the stars;

When you are impartial with yourself,

Without believing yourself possessor of the truths,

When you can suppress your own impulses,

Throwing away selfishness, envy and vanities,

And you manage to radiate without false poses,

That good manhood with which one is born;

When you are fully penetrated,

Of your beautiful mission on this earth;

When honors don't dazzle you,

Don't even get the power to your head,

And money can't break you

Or put a price on your decency;

When you achieve that with your effort,

Only then will the day have come,

In which you can shout to the universe,

By the grace of God... I'm a policeman.

Oración patria Colombia, my homeland

I carry you with love in my heart,

I believe in your destiny and I hope to see you always great, respected and free,

In you I love everything that you have loved me,

your glories, your beauty, my home, the graves of my elders,

my beliefs, the fruit of my efforts.

Being your soldier is the greatest of my glories

and my greatest ambition is to carry the Colombian title with honor

and if necessary die to defend you.
