Theory based research 2

The future is Green: how green architecture will improve the future of housing.

As urbanization increases and rural areas stating to be urbanized the lands which are full of greens are

starting to be lessen and lessen by the day. This is a major problem as increasing number of urbanizations

can cause different kinds of problems within the society. It can lead to deforestation, pollution, reformation

of agricultural lands, and many more. It is also stated by (UniversityofCaliforniaMuseumofPaleontology,

2022) that from urbanization, which is caused by rapid increase of population causes deforestation, the lost

of habitat for animals, the lost of clean water due to extraction, and effects that negatively affect the

biodiversity and also the society.

In this study it focuses on how our society can be change with the concept of green architecture for our

housing and settlements within the society. It also focuses on how vegetation and being environmentally

friendly be added to the design of a settlement without causing a lot of money and resource. The function of

green architecture as stated by (Craven, 2019) is being able to use materials which are safe and will not

cause harm to the environment or materials which can be reused to lessen waste of said materials. It is

also lessening the negative effects that are brought upon industrialization and urbanization. As we reach a

day and age of increase urbanization the importance of doing green design has become a must. The idea

of a green building or a green housing is actually very common knowledge in the present but the idea of

agriculture being part of green architecture is a thing or function not commonly seen or heard of when it

come to green architecture. With this research it will aim on how green architecture will improve

infrastructure but also will look ways on how will it also allow for agriculture to be a function of the design.

RESEARCH METHODS FOR ARCHITECTURE

The aim of this research is to create a sustainable and green residential or housing structure but also

adding other functions like agriculture to it. The idea of this happening is an important factor as designing

with green design in mind can result to an environmentally friendly homes which can benefit nature and

also the users who will use these spaces.

green architecture for housing is an important concept for an architect specially architects in the present as

many present architectural problems and issues are caused by the rise of infrastructure and urbanization.

Being an architect with the knowledge of turning a normal residential into something that will not just benefit

its users but also the environment around it is a good practice for architects.

In conclusion, the concept of green housing or green architecture for housing is not a common thing

specially in the country, Philippines. The idea of creating a home which can benefit the green but also

functions that will benefit the people is a great idea as this can probably solve issues and problems we had

today. Issues like agricultural or rural lands used for farming starting to be less because of increased

housing, pollution, deforestation, and many more. With this concept these issues will probably or will be

solved.

PROJECT BASED RESEARCH

A rise in agricultural housing: housing that will benefit agriculture.

In the Philippines a current problem which is not being tackled is the rise of housing infrastructure. The rise

of housing infrastructure like villages, subdivisions, and housing are increasing in size and number which

negatively affects agriculture. With housing projects using agricultural lands it causes this land being

unusable for agricultural purposes.

With this urbanization process, result in the change of agricultural landscapes results into multiple kinds of

problems from unemployment of farmers, to food shortages, and to the destruction of natural and agricultural

land. It is also stated by (Jinky Cabildo, 2017) that because of the increasing number in population the need

for housing and employment increases as well, this can be seen in the increase of population of nearby

provinces around manila from 1988 to 2016. Because of the increase of housing, agricultural lands from

these provinces are then converted to urbanized space which is commonly used for housing and commercial

use. In this study the researchers focus on the idea of creating housing that benefits agriculture and also how

agriculture can be combining or harmonize with housing. The idea of this research is dividing a land to two

kinds of space or combining two kinds of space, a space used for housing and a space used for agriculture

or farming. This space does not mean they are separate because these spaces must also benefit from one

another. A possible benefit of this is that people within the housing can be employed to farming and also with

farming near the residence this can provide food to the residential areas but also provide it to businesses

and sell it outside.

RESEARCH METHODS FOR ARCHITECTURE

Basically, the function of an agricultural housing is creating a design which will not entirely remove the rise

of housing establishments but also not entirely remove the agricultural aspects of a land. In short, the aim of

this research is creating a space where residential homes can be with agricultural space without the other

providing negative effect to the other space.

The importance of this research is to be able to improve the agricultural aspects of a society. Specially in the

Philippines where many lands are being converted to housing or infrastructure. It is important to be able to

improve agriculture in the society as many of the problems and issues that the country have today is related

to agriculture. And the relevance of agricultural housing to the profession of architects is that it can provide a

new way of designing parts of society. it can lead to changing how architect perceive urban design but also

how they look at housing design. They will look at it as a new way not just to save agriculture of the country

but also advertise and even promote agriculture to the society.

In conclusion, agricultural housing is an idea where people can continue working at farms and be able to

provide food for the people within the society but also will allow for housing to be build to provide homes for

people that needed it.
