Introduction
This Design Calculations Package has been prepared using the latest applicable I .S codes
and standards and the latest developments in engineering practices. A competent design
engineer prepared the calculations and another competent engineer checked his work. The
initials of both engineers are shown on most pages.

For your easy reference, all pages have been numbered and a table of contents has been
provided. We have divided the package into three sections as follows:

1. Design Information: This section contains the description of the building


designed, design codes and material specifications used, design assumptions, loads
and design sketches showing building components layouts and members sizes.

2. Computer Design Printouts: This section includes prints of all the output of
computer programs used in the design along with explanations for the output where
possible.

3. Design Reference Tables and Data Sheets: This section includes the mechanical
properties of all steel sections available for use by INTERARCH and different load
capacity tables. This section also include reference data for INTERARCH standard
designations and computer programs.

Please use this calculations package in conjunction with the drawings provided.

For any questions regarding this package please do not hesitate to contact our office.

as a part of INTERARCH total quality system. In case of any doubt, please call

Applicable Design Codes
The Pr e-Engineered Building described in these calculations was designed according to the latest
Design Codes that have been referred to in the design :

1. The loads as described in the Design Summary Sheet have been applied on the structure
in accordance with :

Design Wind Speed : As per IS 875 (Part 3) – 1987

Seismic Load : As per IS-1893 : 2002 ( Reaffirmed 1997)

2. Hot rolled sections and built up components have been designed in accordance with :
IS 800-2007 General construction in steel – Code of practice

3. Cold formed components have been designed in accordance with :


IS 801 – 1975 Code of practice for use of cold formed light gauge steel structural members
in general building construction

4. Welding has been applied in accordance with :


AWS D1.1.2008 “American Welding Society” Structural Welding Code - Steel
Manual, 2008 Edition.

Design Assumptions

 The main frame rafters and exterior columns are rigidly connected to each other
(using moment type connections).
 All exterior and interior columns are pinned base connected to the foundations.

 The lateral stability of the building is provided through the frame action of the main
frames.

 The longitudinal stability of the building is provided through the truss action in
the cross braced bays of the building.

 The roof purlins are continuous beams supported at rigid frame locations and span
the bay spacing of the building.

 The side wall girts are continuous beams supported at rigid frame location and
span the bay spacing of the building.

 The end wall girts are continuous beams supported at end wall column location and
span the end wall column spacing.
