Chromatic 2's-10's

By Rosario Mazzeo

The Chromatic 2’s-10’s is a great way to get warmed up when you don't have enough

time to get through your routine. It gets your air and fingers moving, helps you establish

your inner pulse and gets you feeling centered both in body and mind. So get your

metronome out and let’s do it!!

DIRECTIONS:

1. Set the metronome at mm=56

2. Play a chromatic scale from low E to altissimo G in duples (2's)

3. Give yourself a measure rest, then play the scale in triplets (3’s)

4. Go on to 16ths (4s), then 5’s, 6’s, 7’s, 8’s, 9’s and 10’s

The music is attached if you'd rather see it all spelled out!

NOTES:

You can slow your mm down to a do-able speed for 7-10s

Be very precise with the metronome, paying attention to the evenness of your finger

motions!

This exercise is most effective when done as a whole!

Be diligent with the transitions. Don't "sneak" into the new rhythms. Be right in the

pocket when you transition to a new rhythm set.
