Aniamal Farm Project
-Character analysis
Napoleon is one of the main characters in George Orwell's novel Animal Farm. He is a
pig who has the role of leader of the farm animals, along with Snowball. He presents
himself as an authoritative, intelligent leader who uses force to maintain order and
control. He is characterised by his boundless ambition, his mischief and his cruelty.
The relationship between Napoleon and the other animals on the farm is strained, as
Napoleon is always looking out for his own gain and is willing to use force to get what
he wants. He always watches over the animals so that they do their job, and when
they don't do their job, he punishes them.
The allegory that George Orwell used to represent Napoleon is that of Josef Stalin.
This was because Stalin was an authoritarian leader who used force to maintain order
and control in Russia. Just like Napoleon, Stalin was a manipulative leader who was
always looking for his own benefit, we can see it in the way Napoleon treats the other
animals on the farm and the way he manipulates the situation to benefit only himself.
The two characters are bad and cruel people, they don't care about anyone but only
them, so they don't care about anyone else, they treat the rest badly.
Propaganda:
This motto refers to Lenin, with this propaganda informing that communism in a more
peaceful or violent way would be able to implant his ideology, because according to
him it was the best for society.
LETTER
Hello, friend!
I hope you are well. From here, at the Animal farm, the situation is changing. This is
difficult, and I would like to tell you what is happening, after the death of the Old Major
and you leaving the farm.
Recently, the eldest pig, Napoleon, took control with Snowball of the farm and
established a new system of government. He is implementing a series of new rules
and laws that are changing the way we live here, because he is very manipulative and
likes to have a lot of power, to have his benefits. On the other hand, Snowball is
smarter and wants to form a revolution so that all farm animals are equal.
The most important rules are that all the animals on the farm must work harder and
produce more food. The work is very hard, and many of us are tired from work. Rest
time between work shifts has also been reduced to increase production.
In addition, Napoleon has established an animal police to ensure that we all abide by
the rules. We are constantly monitored to make sure we don't commit violations, and
if we do, we will be punished.
We also recently had a problem, because our windmill broke twice. The first time we
finished building it because Mr Jones didn't finish it but soon after a storm came and
broke it, but Napoleon said that it was Snowball's fault who is in league with humans
but it was a lie. The second time a human named Frederick came to the farm and blew
up the windmill with dynamite, but we rebuilt it without a problem.
Napoleon is also trying to control the information we receive. We can't talk freely with
other animals from other farms, so I'm glad I can write you this letter, because I
needed to talk to someone.
I hope this has helped you understand the situation here at Animal farm. Although
this situation is hard to bear, I'm glad to know that there is someone out there who
cares about us.
A kiss
Marley
