Montreal
Broadband Connectivity

The Montréal fibre optic network acts as the backbone for MTL Wi-Fi, which offers 8 Mbps per user.
The network received 50,000 unique users in its first month of existence. Cirque de Soleil presented
Montréal en Histories, a city-funded production. Broadband accesses the internet at fast speeds via a
number of ways, including fibre optics, wireless, cable, DSL, and satellite. Broadband refers to the
transmission of large amounts of data through a high-speed internet connection.
Knowledge Workforce

Montréal's universities graduate more students than any other city in Canada. The region's knowledge
economy is a major policy focus. Accelerator programmes and co-working spaces contribute to a
thriving start-up culture. Six Learning Labs in Montréal specialise on everything from transportation to
healthcare and urban planning.
Innovation

McGill University and the École de technologie supérieure established Montréal's Quartier de
l'innovation (QI) in May 2013. The QI is an innovation ecosystem that strives to boost the creative
potential of the city. As it grows, the QI contributes to the growth of the surrounding region, resulting
in a total of $6 billion in property development and municipal investment since its inception.
Digital Inclusion

A Smart City plan published in 2014 was the most recent contribution to this shift. The city owns its
electricity utility, which has led to an 81 percent Internet penetration rate. The current plan is to provide
free Wi-Fi over 17 square kilometres of the city centre.
Marketing and Advocacy

Adolescents Fusion is an inspiring programme that targets teenagers in Montréal who are at risk of
dropping out of school. Gabriel Bran Lopez, a Guatemalan immigrant, founded the programme as a
real, long-term effort to involve these children. Youth Fusion was just named Canada's most effective
charity, with a social value of C$16 for every C$1 contributed.
Sustainability

Montreal has been named one of the finest cities in North America for sustainable mobility. According
to recent study, Montreal is the fourth greenest transit hub in North America. The city also has the best
public transportation system in Canada, according to the Arcadis Sustainable Cities Mobility Index.
Montréal and its partners have pledged to reducing GHG emissions by 80 percent by 2050 while
simultaneously increasing access to services and infrastructure for everyone. Adopt best practises in
sustainable development in order to create a model Montréal.

Broadband Connectivity

Because wireless Internet access onboard trains is not yet a standardised technology, the architecture is
diverse and vendor-specific. Even if you have a fast internet connection, external factors might cause
the whole internet to slow down. Popular websites may get overcrowded with visitors. If a website is
mentioned in a television ad, a significant number of people may attempt to reach the site at the same
time. If the website is not able to handle the demand, you may suffer delays. Second, make sure your
Internet connection is up and running. If not, you might be picking up on stray signals or cross-talk
from another phone.
Knowledge Workforce

The agile workforce has been identified as important to the development of an agile organisation.
Previous research on agility has been overly focused on the organisation, with little regard for the
employees. Every single one of your workers may and should be labelled as a knowledge worker. After
all, everyone is an expert in something. The Workforce Development Board (WDB), located in
Peterborough, is a non-profit organisation that serves the counties of Northumberland, Peterborough,
Kawartha Lakes, and Haliburton. WDB was founded in 1996 and is funded by the Ontario Ministry of
Labour, Training, and Skills Development to provide labour market information and to coordinate
employment. WDB was founded in 1996 and is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training,
and Skills Development to provide labour market information as well as to arrange job and training
programmes. A tenacious network of partners equipped with labor-market expertise to support and
adapt to today's, tomorrows, and future workforce demands. We are always adapting in innovative and
effective ways to meet the changing demands of the labour market. We give resources, insights, and
tools to all stakeholders in order for them to make data-driven, strategic decisions.
Innovation

Peterborough and the Kawarthas have established an economic recovery strategy in response to the
consequences of COVID-19. In order to develop the economy, the original plan highlighted the
significance of sustainability, innovation, and teamwork. These critical pillars are becoming even more
critical as we respond to, adapt to, and pivot from this approach. The City of Kawartha Lakes is
strengthening its commitment to entrepreneurship and innovation by partnering with the Innovation
Cluster-Peterborough and the Kawarthas. Hundreds of companies have benefitted from the cluster's
assistance, including those in agriculture technology, clean technology, digital technology, and
healthcare technology. The cluster will help high-growth technology businesses establish themselves
by providing them with the information, resources, and tools they need to make data-driven, strategic
decisions.
Digital Inclusion

The Peterborough Digital Inclusion initiative began as a pilot in late 2015 and has now grown into
what it is today. The concept arose as a result of Peterborough City Council's drive to digitally transfer
services and the residents with whom they interact. It was believed that through teaching the general
population, this approach would become more widely used.
Marketing and Advocacy

Associate members will get e-newsletters and other member communications on upcoming events,
projects, economic growth, streetscape and revitalization, security issues, bylaw enforcement, and other
topics. Retailers, restaurants, and services will be allowed to participate in DBIA special events and

will be featured on www.theboro.ca. Associate members may serve on subcommittees (Marketing,

Economic Development Committee, and Beautification) and contribute to initiatives such as events,
advocacy, marketing, and streetscape.
Sustainability

Sustainable Peterborough is a regional community partnership comprised of individuals, businesses,

local governments, and First Nations. As a consequence, we are working together to ensure a long-term
future that balances prosperity, well-being, and the environment. Across the Greater Peterborough
Area, we are attempting to apply the sustainability framework stated in the Community Sustainability
Plan. The Greater Peterborough Area Climate Change Action Plan aims to reduce local climate change
contributions while also preparing the community for current and future changes. The CCAP will
include objectives, actions, and emission targets that are in line with and address the needs of each
local municipality and First Nation, with the overarching goal of reducing our greenhouse gas
emissions.
