chai at home:

Ingredients:
• 4 Tetley British Blend or Orange Pekoe tea bags
• 13 cardamom pods (cracked)

• 1 cinnamon stick (about 3 inches long)

• 3 tablespoons (or more) sugar

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• 1 cup evaporated milk


1 Instructions:
1. Boil the Water and Add Spices:

• Bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a medium pot or tea kettle.

• Add the tea bags, cracked cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, sugar, and vanilla extract.
• Return to a boil, stirring to ensure the tea doesn’t boil over.


• Simmer and Infuse:

• Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the tea simmer for about 30 minutes.

• The longer it simmers, the stronger and creamier it will become.

• The color should turn caramel-like.


• Add Evaporated Milk:

• Stir in the evaporated milk and return to a boil briefly.

• Watch carefully to prevent boiling over.


• Strain and Serve:
• Strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into mugs.

• Discard the spices and tea bags.

• Enjoy your homemade karak chai!
