SACRED GEOMETRY SYMBOLS AND THEIR MEANINGS

Sri Yantra

The Sri Yantra, or Yantra of Creation, represents the OM vibration and has been
known in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions since Vedic times, as the most powerful
and mystically beautiful of all yantras (visual symbol to balance the mind or focus it on
spiritual concepts). It represents the timeless creative principle of the universe, the
continuous unfoldment of all realms of creation from the Central Source and, with that
mindfulness; it is also used as an object of meditation

Flower of Life

The Flower of Life symbol is considered to be sacred among many cultures, both
ancient and modern. Within this symbol can be found all the building blocks of the
universe (Platonic Solids). The Flower of Life can be used as a metaphor to illustrate
the connectedness of all life and the one spirit within the universe.
Goddess Isis (also with flower of life)

In Ancient Egyptian lore she is said to be the personification of nature or the feminine
aspect of divine. Her reputed magical power was greater than that of all other gods,
and she was said to protect the kingdom from its enemies, govern the skies and the
natural world, and have power over fate itself.

Hanuman

The ancient Vedic texts speak of him as a monkey child of the Wind God, possessing
enormous strength, keen intellect and a mastery over the Vedas and other branches of
learning. He is also an unquestioning devotee and selfless servant of Rama, the hero
of the epic Ramayana.
Baha’i Symbol

The Nine-pointed star it is considered by those interested in numbers as the sign of


perfection and unity and is the numerical value of the word “Baha”, thus there is
frequent use of the number 9 in Baha'í symbols.
The Buddha

He is believed to have lived and taught mostly in the northeastern part of ancient
India sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE. He is said to have taught
a Middle Way between sensual indulgence and the severe asceticism. He is believed
by Buddhists to be an enlightened teacher who attained full Buddhahood and shared
his insights to help sentient beings end rebirth and suffering.
Raise of the Phoenix

The mythical Phoenix has been incorporated into many religions, signifying eternal life,
destruction, creation and fresh beginnings. Legend has it that the phoenix represents
the idea that the end is only the beginning and will be reborn over and over again.

Unalome

In Buddhism, Unalome are the visual image of reaching enlightnment. The spiral
means our struggle with life, while the straight line shows that we have finally found
harmony. Unalome represent the "crowns" of the enlightened saints. This is a very
powerful symbol of spiritual and personal quest.

Winged Ankh

The ankh, or Egyptian cross, is a very ancient symbol and it is believed to represent
eternal life, and to be a protective amulet. The added wings symbolize freedom and the
wish to "always flying high".
Bagua

The Bagua consists of eight trigrams used in Taoist cosmology to represent the
fundamental principles of reality.

I AM

I AM is the ultimate statement of self-sufficiency, self-existence, and immediate


presence. It is derived from “I Am that I Am” or “I will be what I will be”.

Man in the Maze

According to O'odham ( Native American Tribe) oral history, the labyrinth design
depicts experiences and choices we make in our journey through life. In the middle of
the "maze", a person finds their dreams and goals. When one reaches the center, we
have one final opportunity (the last turn in the design) to look back upon our choices
and path, before the Sun God greets us, blesses us and passes us into rebirth.

Sahasrara

The Sahasrara, which represents the 7th or Crown Chakra, is referred to as the “lotus
of a thousand petals”. It is the epicenter of the soul and the essence of one’s complete
being. The seventh chakra is responsible for the integration of all the others, melding
them with their own individual qualities and is often referred to as the Promised Land
where complete and utter freedom and truth are obtained.
Galactic Butterfly

Galactic Butterfly – This Hunab Ku symbol represents the Supreme God and Creator of
the Maya. He is the head of the Mayan Pantheon and called 'God of the Gods'.
Originally a rectangular design, it was modified by Jose Argüelles, author of the Mayan
Factor, to look more like a circular motif evoking a yin and yang symbol, as well as a
spiral galaxy.

Caduceus

This pattern, known as the Caduceus, consists of two serpents crisscrossed around a
staff topped by a round knob and flanked by wings, has been the symbol of the
American medical profession for nearly a hundred years.

Butterfly

The Butterfly symbolizes metamorphosis, a total transformation. It represents a need


for change and greater freedom. As we move through different life cycles, we
experience a sense of renewal and rebirth. The butterfly also represents lightness of
being, playfulness and finding greater joy in life.

Metatron’s Cube

Metatron’s Cube - Mythically speaking, Metatron was originally human, elevated to


archangel by God for his services as scribe. He was considered to be the foremost
communicator between humans and the divine. Metatron is best known for his ‘cube’
which is derived from the Fruit of Life, which are thirteen circles concealed in the
ancient Flower of Life found inscribed on the walls of the Osirian temple at Abydos,
Egypt and throughout many ancient cultures. The centers of each of these thirteen
circles are then all connected to each other to form Metatron’s Cube and it is from this
pattern that all the “Platonic Solids” can be formed which are the building blocks of all
life.

Golden Mean Spiral

Golden Mean Spiral – This spiral is derived via the golden rectangle, a unique rectangle which has
the golden ratio. This form is found everywhere in nature: the Nautilus Shell, the face of a Sunflower,
your fingerprints, our DNA, and the shape of the Milky Way.

Tri-Spiral Golden Mean


This unquestionably beautiful symbol has three Golden Mean Spirals
being birthed out of an equilateral triangle. It represents the Holy Trinity, Internal
Balance and Divine Harmony of the highest order.

Seed of Life

The Seed of Life Pendant is a symbol of blessing and protection passed through
generations; it contains the secret of the seven days of the creation. It can also be
worn as a symbol of fertility. These circles are placed with 6-fold symmetry, forming a
mesmerizing pattern of circles and lenses. It is just one level away from the most
recognized Sacred Geometry Symbol, the Flower of Life.

Tree of Life

The Tree of Life symbol represents different qualities and virtues like wisdom, strength,
protection, beauty, bounty and redemption. This tree is associated with the creator
because it provides protection, supports abundant fruit production and thereby,
regeneration. This symbol indicates that all forms of life are connected through a
cosmic energy and that we as humans should live in harmony with the rest of living
beings.
Tree of Life within the Flower of Life

The combined essence of the Tree of Life within the Flower of Life creates a dynamic
synergy.
Pentagram

The Pentagram was used symbolically in Ancient Greece and Babylonia, and is used
today as a symbol of faith by many Wiccans, akin to the use of the cross by Christians
and the Star of David by Jews. Also, in Ancient Greece, Pythagorean School taught
that the pentagram was a symbol of mathematical perfection.

Abundance

This symbol represents the Abundance that is all around us. As we open ourselves up
and do whatever it takes to manifest our true calling, the Universe unfolds to provide us
with everything under the Sun that we need in divine right timing.

Sunflower

The physical resemblance of the Sunflower to the Sun has significantly influenced its
meaning. The sunflower's petals have been likened to bright yellow rays of sunshine,
which evoke feelings of warmth and happiness. In addition, the sunflower is often
associated with adoration and longevity. The Sunflower Pendant pattern has also
shown up as a crop circle.

Hamsa

The Hamsa depicts the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of
protection in many societies throughout history, particularly in the three major Western
Religions. The Hamsa is said to provide defense against the evil eye.

Om

This symbol for OM represents a mystical Sanskrit sound of Hindu origin that is sacred
and important in various Dharmic religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

Star of David

The Star of David is a symbol representing the Jewish religion. Its shape is that of a
hexagram, the compound of two equilateral triangles. One facing up toward Heaven
and one pointing down toward earth. The Star of David within the Star of David is a
symbol associated with the Ancient Jews of Ethiopia.
Vajra

Vajra is a Sanskrit word meaning diamond and thunderbolt. The Vajra is believed to
represent firmness of spirit and spiritual power and is commonly used symbolically by
Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism.

Labyrinth

Labyrinths are a single path or unicursal tool for personal, psychological and spiritual
transformation. Labyrinths are thought to enhance right brain activity. The Classical
Seven Circuit Labyrinth in this example shows that you enter a labyrinth through the
mouth and then walk on the paths or circuits. The goal is to get to the center of the
labyrinth. When you reach it, you have gone half the distance and you can sit and go
into a meditative state. Then, you need to turn around and walk back out. This whole
process has been used to prepare individuals for entering into Holy Shrines.

55) Metatron's Cube in Flower of Life

Metatron is best known for his ‘cube’ which is derived from the Fruit of Life, thirteen
circles concealed in the ancient Flower of Life. When superimposed on top of another
Flower of Life it reinforces our Unity Consciousness...the Sacred Oneness of all
Creation.

Archangel Michael

Archangel Michael fights for good to prevail over evil. You can ask for Michael’s help to
gain the courage you need to overcome your fears. Michael is often depicted in art
wielding a sword or a spear that you can use to cut away all your negative thought
patterns and to cut or destroy very strong, negative cord attachments to other people.
You can also use it to destroy all your limiting beliefs that are holding you back. Give
your limiting belief a physical representation and cut right through it and replace it with
a belief that you desire.
Ganesha

Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron


of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom.

Mayan Headdress

The Mayan Headdress crop circle resembles a Native American Headdress with a
prominent Mayan Motif. It has a zig zag pattern to it ... signature of the feathered
serpent, Quetzalcoatl, 'The Radiant One' who is expected by some people to make his
return any time now...

Tube Torus

The Tube Torus is a shape created out of the basic structure of creation called The Seed of Life. It is
one of the basic shapes of the universe and is considered as the ultimate sign of unity. The Tube
Torus has no inner or outer side and so it symbolizes for the wearer the unity between what you are
experiencing as the outer world and as your inner world.
Yin/Yang Double Dragon

In Asian philosophy, the concept of Yin Yang is used to describe how polar opposites or seemingly
contrary forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to
each other in turn. Opposites thus only exist in relation to each other. The Dragon symbol represents
strength, power and good luck.

Trinity

Blessed Trinity, the union of three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost)
in one Godhead. Also represents Mind, Body, Spirit.

Twelve-Pointed Star

This Twelve-Pointed Star beautifully represents the number twelve which symbolizes
what is completed, forms a whole, and is a perfect and harmonious unit. In the ancient
civilizations, like Oriental and Judaic, it corresponds to the plenitude, the completion
and the integrality of a thing. It also may be used to represent the twelve tribes of Israel
or the twelve apostles.
Rose Cross

The Rose Cross comes from the Society of the Rose-Cross which devoted itself to
teaching mankind the love of God and the beauty of brotherhood. They founded their
symbolism upon the rose and the cross, which typify the redemption of man through
the union of his lower temporal nature with his higher eternal nature.

Ankh in Flower of Life

This beautiful symbol combines the Ankh which is known as the Key of Life, and in
Ancient Egyptian symbolizes the concept of Eternal Life, with the Flower of Life which
represents the interconnectedness and Oneness of Creation.

Sufi Winged Heart

"Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that
sings its melody to the night. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for
another day of loving." ~Kahlil Gibran~ Sufism is known as “Islamic Mysticism,” in
which Muslims seek to find divine Love and knowledge through direct personal
experience of God. This symbol is a heart with wings within which is a five-pointed star
(representing divine light) and a crescent moon (reflecting responsiveness to this
light). “In brief, the meaning of this symbol is that the heart responsive to the light of
God is liberated.” ~Hazrat Inayat Khan~
Fruit of Life

The 'Fruit of Life' symbol is composed of 13 circles taken from the design of the Flower
of Life. It is said to be the blueprint of the Universe, containing the basis for the design
of every atom, molecular structure, life form and everything in existence. It contains
the geometric basis for the delineation of Metatron's Cube, which brings forth the
platonic solids.

Chakra Man

MerKaBa

The MerKaBa, which can be viewed as a three-dimensional Star of David. Also spelled
MerKaBah, it is the divine light vehicle allegedly used by ascended masters to connect
with and reach those in tune with the higher realms. "Mer" means Light. "Ka" means
Spirit. "Ba" means Body. Mer-Ka-Ba means the spirit/body surrounded by counter-
rotating fields of light, (wheels within wheels), spirals of energy as in DNA, which
transports spirit/body from one dimension to another.
Fourth Dimension

This Crop Circle called the Fourth Dimension appeared at Barbury Castle in 1991. It
symbolizes leaving the Age of darkness, which will be replaced by a new eternal
Golden Age consisting of JOY and HAPPINESS without opposites because all
darkness is becoming extinct.

Septagram (Seven-Sided Polygon)

Septagram or Faerie Star, is used by many Pagan and Celtic-based Traditions. In Sacred
Geometry it is called a heptagon, a 7-sided polygon. The seven points represent the Sun,
The Forest, the Sea, Magic, the Moon, the Wind, and the Connection (or Spirit). It is also
used by many Christian faiths to symbolize the seven days of creation and the perfection
or God.

Penteract, 5th Dimensional Hypercube

Fifth Dimensional Consciousness can be the experience of a permanent state of


peace, bliss, love, and joy. One sees themselves in everyone whether it be humans or
animals. The mind is quieter, and one tends to live in the present moment with
increased psychic and intuitive abilities. Manifestation is easier, and synchronicities
become more apparent.

Right and Left Eye of Horus

The Eye of Horus is an Ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good
health. The eye is called the Eye of Ra, symbolizing the sun. The Eye of Horus refers
to the ancient Mystery School Teachings of Creational Geometry encoded by Isis and
Osiris and left behind with their priests in Egypt. It was also the name of the Mystery
Schools created by Pharaoh Akhenaten around 1400 B.C.

Sun/Moon

The Sun and the Moon are two opposing forces in the Universe, the Yang and the Yin;
but if they are formed together, they can make a more powerful and greater body. The
Sun represents the elements of masculinity like authority, wisdom, strength and power;
while the Moon signifies emotion, imagination, intuition and beauty. Together, the Sun
and Moon can be interpreted as the union of one’s male and female attributes to a form
a balance in a person’s relationships to others, the blending of the active and passive
characteristics of being human.

Adi Shakti

Adi Shakti means, literally, the primal, first power. It has a Feminine aspect, it divines
the future—both known and unknown, and is the embodiment of creativity, balance,
and completion. This symbol transcends the rational mind.

Manipura Chakra (Solar Plexus)

Manipura is considered the center of dynamism, energy, will power and achievement
which radiates Prana throughout the entire human body. It is associated with the
power of fire and digestion, as well as with the sense of sight and the action of
movement. Manipura is "the center of etheric-psychic intuition and opening up this area
may help in making better decisions in one's life on many different levels.

Triskelion

The triskelion is also known as the “Spiral of Life.” The three spirals represent
balance, harmony and continual motion indicative of the flow of life and of the Earth in
her seasons and cycles. Triskelion’s assist in the bioelectric and bio-magnetic energy
flow based on mathematics and sacred geometry. Placed in or around water, they
create energetic vortices that bring molecular structure to water.

Star of Lakshmi
This symbol is known as the Star of Lakshmi and represents her eight forms of wealth
and prosperity. When called upon, Lakshmi opens the floodgates of heaven to meet
our heart’s or budget’s needs.

Choku Rei

Pronounced: "Cho-Koo-Ray"), its general meaning is the place of power of the


Universe is here. This power symbol can be used to increase the power in Reiki
Healing Practice and help improve the flow of Life Force Energy. It can also be used
for protection.
