Dear Lord,
I thank You for Your deep, abiding love for me. Give
me the gift of faith to entrust myself and all those that I
love to Your tender care. Help me, with the gift of faith,
to envision Your will and path for my earthly journey.
Lord, reveal to me what it meant when You came to
be among us as a human being, like us in everything
except sin.
Thank You for allowing me to see how very much
You care for me by sending Your holy angels to be with
me on this journey.
And just as when I was a child and had wide-open
eyes of wonder, give me back those eyes to see the real-
ity of the spiritual, unseen realm that surrounds me.
I thank You. Amen.

up, she saw a beautiful, large, glowing angel leaning over her
sleeping daughter. Then she saw a small angel on the other
side of the bed. She said, “Lord, who is that small angel for?”
God replied, That’s the angel for your daughter’s unborn
child—your grandchild.
On another occasion, my husband and I were in Vail,
Colorado, for an annual healing conference. Two of our
friends were driving into Denver for the day, along with their
pregnant daughter. Their daughter’s friend was driving the
car when they returned to Vail that night. The young girl, an
inexperienced driver, lost control of the car on the icy road
and it started to slide, but something stopped the car before
it rolled down the mountain. A driver coming behind saw the
incident and phoned for rescue. My friends knew without a
doubt that they had been saved by God.
Now here is the fascinating part of the story. In Denver,
they had the car washed, but in the snowy road conditions,
the car had gotten dirty again. When the driver started to get
back into the car, she noticed that there were handprints all
over the side of the car that was by the edge. The handprints
were huge, except for one set that was very small. They were
all standing there, looking at those huge handprints, and the
girl—who was not a believer—said, “Those were angels.” Then
she said, “Why are those small prints there?” And, just as in
the earlier story with the pregnant woman, we believe it was an
angel assigned to the unborn child who left the smaller prints.
These two stories indicate that angels are assigned to guard
children even in the womb against anything that could harm
them. In Praying for Your Unborn Child, Francis and I wrote
about the need to pray daily for the child forming within
the mother, not only for the child’s physical and emotional
development, but for protection from any harm.
