ALIGARH MOVEMENT
The Aligarh movement was a social reform movement in India that was launched by Sir Syed
Ahmed Khan in 1875. The primary goals of the movement were to promote Western education
among the Muslim community and to work for the upliftment of Muslims in the country.

progress for Muslims. He established the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in Aligarh,

community through education and social reforms. Sir syed ahmed felt the lack of education
would always be the drawback for muslims as Britishers always blamed muslim for The
war of independence .
