Oakland Historic House Museum

Oakland Historic House Museum is manifesto of the history of the Murfreesboro,

Tennessee, United States. It is important piece of work. The mansion in actual provide housing a

prominent family of the 19th century and it also took part in the civil war. It is basically the

historic plantation of the houses that is located in the United States. The involvement of the

Oakland in the civil war is significant. It was completely involved in the Battle of the Stone

River tha was civilian war. The battle was started in the late 1862 and continued till the early

January 1863. The mansion would no longer be standing in the United States with the same

intention, if group of ladies was excluded from the range of the Oakland Historic House

Museum. The Oakland Historic House Museum was decided to demolish and remove from the

world in 1950s. This decision was taken because of the damages were incurred to the Oakland

when it was set completely vacant. Then association took the responsibility to keep maintain

such marvelous piece of history. The efforts of association are totally considered responsible for

the protection of the Oakland Historic House Museum. Preserve

To restore the Oakland mansion, this museum preserves the collection of the 1950s and

1960s. Such efforts were made to maintain the early glory of the mansion. This collection of the

1950s and 1960s greatly informed is about the how and by the help of which efforts the Oakland

Historic Museum was restored. It is also tells about that what were the underlying motive for the

restoration of the Oakland mansion. The detailed history about te restoration of Oakland can be

Oakland is one of the sources of the national register of historic places. It is in actual

known as the Italic design and considered the local masterpiece in the Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The civil wars ere started in the middle of the 19 th century the Oakland of plantation was too

established in the same period to serve the people with the mansions who were participating in

the civil wars. Confederate and Union armies both stayed in the mansion. There were many

army officers who visited to the Oakland mansion but the most valuable visit to the mansion was

the visit of the Jefferson Davis who was the Confederate President and was there in mansion in

December 1862 for the purpose of stay. He also stayed in the mansion during the civil wars.

Rebecca Jetton was the owner of the Oakland Historic House Museum and Jetton was the

last one. It was in 1950s when he felt it is no more possible for him to maintain the mansion even

during the period of the civilian wars. This was the period when the damages were injected to the

Oakland mansion. The Oakland Historic House Museum was restored in the 1958 in the city of

the Murfreesboro. It was restored by the group of the women who came out on the roads and

rallied together to fulfill their demand. Their demand was to form an association of the Oakland

mansion. Finally these homes were opened to the general public as a museum and refresh the

history of the Murfreesboro, Tennessee during the 1960s. Now, thousand of the visitor visits the

Oakland Historic House Museum every year. It is also used for both public and private functions

as well.
