Smart snacking
Everyone loves snacks. Some children even say that ‘snack’ is their favourite meal of the day.
But you often hear that snacks are unhealthy, and eating between meals can make you put on
weight.
For many people in the UK, snacking is becoming the main form of eating and some people
aren’t having real, nutritious meals any more. Everywhere you go – in the street, at work, on
buses – people are eating snacks, and many are overweight. In some homes there aren’t tables
and chairs, and people eat in front of the TV. These bad eating habits and a lack of exercise are
causing British children to become overweight and unfit.
Typical snacks – crisps, sweets or chocolate, with cola – are high in calories and are very
fattening. These carbohydrates make you feel good when you are eating them, but they can
easily become an addiction. They only give you energy for a short time, and they are very bad
for your health.
Many of us have very busy lives. Between school, homework, sports and spending time with
friends, we get hungry and our bodies need something to give us the energy to keep us going. So
a healthy, nutritious snack – yogurt, a fruit smoothie or a baked potato – is better than something
sweet.
A healthy snack is good for you and helps you do well at school. The best way to feel good is to
exercise and have a balanced diet, including healthy snacks. Of course, you can still enjoy
delicious things like chocolate, but not every day.

 a terrible picnic
 an exciting trip
Last weekend was amazing! I hung out with my incredible friends, and we had the
best time ever. We did all sorts of cool stuff together. We went to a vintage coffee and
enjoyed some beautiful views at that place. At night, we sat around on a floor, talked
some rumours as well as gossips and laughed a lot. We also ate really yummy food . It
was so much fun and we made memories that will last forever. It was truly an
awesome weekend that reminded us of the importance of friendship and the joy that
came from spending quality time together.
