Homework 1

Instructions:
Arrange the following piece of music for a woodwind quartet consisting of oboe (soprano voice), english
horn (alto voice), and two bassoons (tenor and bass voices - on separate staves). Make sure your score
contains all of the necessary markings for each part. Keep in mind, that the piece below is written on a
grand staff in SATB format. Dynamic markings in between the staves apply equally to each individual
part - however, some adjusting may be necessary when you transfer to your score. Also make sure the
staff order of your score is appropriate. The tempo marking and rehearsal letter must be created
appropriately so that they only appear above the top staff of your score but are hidden in the individual
parts. Even though, you are not to extract the individual parts, the assignment requires that you create
these markings with that intent. Don't overlook anything!

You will submit your score as a Finale 2008 file. You do not have to do any special page formatting, but
make sure there are no blank measures left at the end of your score and that any unused text blocks are
deleted. Your name should appear as the "arranger". Make sure you include it when you are working
through the setup wizard.
