Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools Incorporated (MASTS)held at Cotabato Province – the University of
Southern Mindanao (USM), these elements come together in a remarkable display of skill and dedication by the CSUCC
Chess Team. Under the guidance of Coach Lexcelyn Ann Nerio, this talented group of students has not only made their
mark in the MASTS chess arena but has also brought home silver and gold medals in the recent championships.

Silver Medalists In the team category, the CSUCC Chess Team proved their mettle as they clinched the silver
medal. It's a remarkable achievement that showcases the collective strength and coordination of the team. The players who
played a pivotal role in this accomplishment include: Jezamae Valleser (CBA - BS in Management Accounting) her
strategic prowess and analytical thinking at Board 1 were crucial to the team's success. Her dedication to the game and
unwavering focus made her a formidable opponent. Roen Grace Calivoso (CBA - BSBA in Financial Management)
Calivoso's skills at Board 4 were instrumental in securing the silver medal. Her ability to adapt to various playing styles
and her resilience under pressure were commendable. May Flor Dominise (CTHM - BS in Tourism Management)
Dominise’s, at Board 5, played a vital role in the team's success. Her strategic moves and determination on the board were
instrumental in helping CSUCC secure their silver medal.

Dominance Shines Through In the individual category, the CSUCC Chess Team's players continued to shine,
bringing home both gold and silver medals. Board 5 - May Flor Dominise (CTHM) extraordinary performance didn't stop
with the team victory. She went on to claim the gold medal in the individual category, showcasing her exceptional chess
skills and unwavering focus. Board 4 - Roen Grace Calivoso (CBA) outstanding performance didn't go unnoticed either.
She secured the silver medal in the individual category, demonstrating her consistency and determination on the
chessboard.

Coach Lexcelyn Ann Nerio, the guiding force behind the CSUCC Chess Team, deserves special recognition. Her
