select its representatives for an
upcoming inter-collegiate competition.

boys participants and 4 girls participants,
but only 5 boys and 4 girls made it to the
final round. The chess matches were
intense and lasted for several hours, with
each player trying their best to
outmaneuver their opponent. In the end,
four students were chosen to represent
DMMSU-SLUC in the inter-collegiate
competition.
The tournament served as a platform for
students from different year levels to
showcase their skills and establish
camaraderie with their peers. "It's not

share your interest in the game."
Chess is just one of the many

The second day of the chess competition

shuffling the players again and the fourth
round being the decider. After four
rounds of intense gameplay, the results
of the competition were tallied.
The ranking of the female teams was
announced, with the following
departments taking the top positions: CE-
1, CCHAMS-2, CAS-3, CCS-4, CA-5, and
CF-6. The female players demonstrated
their prowess and skills in the game, with
CE emerging victorious and setting the
pace for the other teams. On the other
hand, the ranking of the men's teams was
also announced, with CA-1 taking the
first position. The other departments
that ranked in include CCS-2, CE-3, CAS-
4, CF-5, and CCHAMS-6. Chess is an
excellent way of building and improving
critical thinking skills, and it was evident
in the way the players executed each
move with precision and accuracy.
