1.How can history contribute to the process of nation building?
- There were many In the Philippine history who contributed to the process of nation building, one of
these is the writing efforts of Rizal in urging his country to work together for national unity. Similarly, the
essence of history was made a foundation of national and pride also, to rebuild the Filipino identity.
2.How can the study of life, works, and writings of Jose Rizal contribute to the process of nation
building?
- Studying the life, works, and writings of Jose Rizal can contribute to the process of nation building
through applying the lessons and experiences of his life education, past time etc. These must be well
entrenched in every Filipinos soul because it will become useless if it is not applied in real life.
3.What are the crucial Infinitives in life according to Gemino Abad?
-According to Gemino Abad, the crucial Infinitives in life is “to read, to think, to write,” we can be like
Rizal who participated in the social and political processes of building the nation, not necessarily of great
things but through small yet impactful ways. In line with this, youth are expected to be Rizal like in terms
of deep nationalism therefore, it is an opportunity for everyone to fulfill what professor. Abad reffered to
us.
4.what are your realization in studying the life, works and writing of Jose Rizal to your life being a
student?
-My realization in studying the life, works and writings of Jose Rizal to my life as being a student is that
Dr.Jose Rizal served as an eye opener for us a Filipinos. Through studying and knowing the life of Jose
Rizal I was able to grasp all the essential information about his contributions about him being a son, a
brother, a spouse, a father, a person, a hero and a Filipino. All of these learnings matter to me since that I
could get something beneficial from those in which I could use it as a guide in continuing my own
journey. And in line with this, he was able to influenced the whole nation not just through the use of pen,
but also sharing his life experience had also touched the hearts of every Filipinos in which it also
contributed a lot in making our nationalism a more unified one.Since our country today had finally
restored it’s liberty and freedom primarily because of Rizal’s effort and nationalism, his works and noble
deeds greatly influenced the Filipinos.

Student Journal:
Reflect on Rizal’s role as a symbol of nation-building. As a student, how can you become a herald of
nationalism? Answer should have atleast a minimum of 10 sentences.
Rizal insist on education as an instrument of social progress. Rizal’s greatest contribution to
Philippine nation-building has been his tireless efforts to urge his compatriots to work together for
national unity as a condition for survival. Any man who refuses to fight injustice is not for the welfare of
society. As a student, I become a herald of nationalism by showing respect whenever the national anthem
of the Philippines is being sung. It is a song that honors our ancestors who sacrificed their best lives to
free our country. Being proud of my nationality and of being Filipino. Feel it through my mind and Spirit
that I’m a true blooded Filipino. Treating my mother fellow Filipinos with respect and equality. Whether
what social class they come from what race, we must give them the warmth of being one of us , and
showing them important, because I can be a role model to others. I must freely agree to the correct and
laws, since these can shape up our society into a more descent one. Love is the most important value in
Nationalism. Everything that I stated above will not work if I don’t have love for the Philippines. I will
always love, respect and support for my beloved country.
