1. Write the following progressions in four parts. Provide complete figuring, including both
structural and ornamental chord levels.
a. A major: a passing 64 fifth progression ornamentation of the ii chord
b. Eb major: a passing 64 fifth progression ornamentation of the IV chord, but where ii65
substitutes for the second IV chord
c. D minor: An auxiliary 63 fifth progression ornamentation of the i chord
d. G major: An auxiliary 53 fifth progression ornamentation of the vi chord
e. B major: Ornamental fifth chords in root position that embellish a sequence of predominant
structural chords with root movements in descending thirds. Complete the musical phrase
thereafter with an authentic cadence.
f. C minor: Ornamental fifth chords in first inversion that embellish a sequence of predominant
structural chords with root movements in descending thirds. Complete the musical phrase
thereafter with an authentic cadence
g. E major: The I chord composed out with an ornamental third progression. Provide a suitable
chord of resolution.
h. G minor: The ii06 chord composed out with an ornamental third progression. Provide a
suitable chord of resolution.
i. A minor: The i chord composed out with an ornamental third progression. Provide a suitable
chord of resolution
j. Ab major: The IV chord composed out with an ornamental third progression. Provide a
suitable chord of resolution.
