Introduction / Background to HLA:
This booklet contains a number of tasks which will assess you on your understanding of command words
and your interpretation of data. This HLA will be your Bronze assessment. Therefore it is very important
to put time and effort into completing the tasks in detail. Read the descriptors of the grades at the end
of this document. They will inform you of what your teacher will be looking for in your work in order to
award you a grade.
Task 1:
Describe the location of Lichfield.
Task 2:
Describe the human and physical characteristics of Lichfield.
In your answer you should a description of any physical and human characteristics found Lichfield (as a city). For
example:
Physical examples: Rivers or lakes, is your local area hilly or flat? Surrounding natural vegetation.

Type in your postcode and the site will show you the different crimes which have occurred in a 1 mile radius of
your postcode.

Task 4:
How are the buildings used in Lichfield?
Choose a specific area to complete this task. This can be made up of one street or a number of streets. Complete the
tally table on the A3 sheet to show numbers of each use of buildings in Lichfield. To complete this task you can
visit the streets you want to collect data on, or use https://www.streetfinder.co.uk/postcode/WS13_6PW.htm to
collect the data. If you are using the website you will need to zoom in on the map – the coloured dots will change
into symbols which represent the type of building found in this area.
Write the name of the street(s) you are collecting data on at the top of the table in answer sheet on the task 4
section.
Task 5:
What is the environment like in Lichfield?
