Scene 1:
( 3 groups are preparing to give the presentations on their dream jobs.)
Student 1 ( Minh Duc) : The teacher gave our class an assignment to
talk about our dream job. I love this topic!
Student 2: ( Ng Ha Linh) Yes, everybody is working so hard to prepare
the group presentation.
Student 3 ( Quynh Chi): Yes, but there’s one person who doesn’t
show any interests in it. It’s Van.
Student 1. Yes, that’s so odd. Hey, here she is.
Student 2: Van? Why are you so late?
Student 4 ( Thanh Van):
Which group are you going to join? We have 3 dream jobs: police,
doctor and teacher. Wanna join our teacher group?
Van: What? Being a teacher? How could you come up with such an
absurd idea? My mom’s a teacher. She’s crazy busy, and still very poor.
I don’t know why she loves her job so much.
Student 1: So how about joining our group! We want to be doctors,
doctors can earn a lot of money and people respect us.
Van: Not interested.
Student 2: You definitely want to be a police man. Join our group and
your life will be soo thrilling.
Van: No, thanks! Why do you idiots want to be the poor police men
who can even risk their life for someone else. I don’t have time for that.
You guys stop it, stay away from me. I don’t have any dreams! Why do
we have to makes sacrifices for other people?
Student 1:
- Hey. That’s enough. You are being very silly now.
Student 2:
- That's right, we can’t stand you anymore. We are just trying to help
you but I find your attitude completely unreasonable.
Van (angry) I don’t care what you think. I’m selfish. Is it okay for you?
Now, leave me alone.
Student 3:
We really don’t want to argue with you right now!
Student 2:
Okay, last chance for you. We need only one more member in our police
group. Pls join, I’ll tell the teacher to add your name in my group or you
will get zero. (Van sits and cries)
Student 5: Hey, you guys. Don’t say anything to her right now. She’s
sad.
Student 1: What? Are we making her sad?? Isn’t that her who is being
unacceptable here?
Student 5: 2 years ago, Van's father died while chasing a criminal. The
criminal was a cold-blooded murder. For Van, it was a huge loss. Her
dad told her that being a police man was what he felt most proud of.
Since that, she never seems to care about anything else.
Other students:
- Van, we're sorry, we didn't know. I'm sorry.
- Please forgive us.
Van: Whatever, I just want to be alone (walking away)
Scene 2:
Student 1: Mom, Dad, help me. I can’t breathe. Fire’s
everywhere.
Student 2: Help me. It’s stifling.
- Van: Hold on. I’m here. Hold my hand tight!
- Van: Ly, where are you? Answer me!
Student 3: I’m over here. Please help me. I don’t
wanna die.
- Van: Don’t worry. I will get you all out of here.
This gonna be okay, trust me.
(Van continues to run into the fire)
-Mom: Van, where are you? Oh, Van...Please answer
me, Van...my child, don't scare me, Van, please answer
me, wake up, wake up and look at me. My daughter,
your father left me, I can’t lose you. Pls don't leave me
alone. Van, I am begging you, please don't be like this.
How can I live without you?
-Van: Mom - Mom, I'm here....I'm...
-Mother: My daughter, you're awake, thank you, I
thank you.
-Van: Mom.......I'm okay.
-Mom: I'm here, I love you.
- Student: - Van, thank you.
To us you are a hero, we are so sorry for making you
sad
- Van: I'm okay.
- HS: it's our fault...
- Van: You guys didn't do anything wrong. I’m glad
that we are all alive.

Teacher/Mom : I understand what you are worried about, everyone is
here with you on your way to achieve your dream. For me, I have
chosen to become a teacher and I’m proud of my job and your father
was proud of being a police man. Never give up on your dreams. No
matter how many people say it's impossible, no matter how difficult or
painful your journey is.
Student: Be brave, we will always by your side. We believe in you.
