ABSTRACT

Since the mobile technology has advanced, a lot of mobile applications were

developed. Such application changed the way people are entertained. Moreover, it

employs gestures such as swiping, tapping and tilting with the aid of mobile built-in

components. Technically, as observed, a person usually makes use of the keypad in

playing mobile games, resulting to tendency of feeling numbness in his thumb hand. The

aim of this study is to introduce, develop and implement a mobile game using android

technology.

Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION AND ITS BACKGROUND

Overview of the Current State of Technology

Android is the most popular mobile platform in the world. Android development

is becoming an increasingly popular field. For developers who want to target a huge,

diverse audience, the in demand use of computer system software has been implemented

from a personal computer, mobile and even other means of technology and Applications /

Games which are now pervasive. In years, the games are also being implemented by the

use of the World Wide Web. Programmers and designers consistently find and grow new

faces, styles of games or applications which most of the people are looking forward to it.

(Rica, Xannie, & Dacel (n.d.)) (Rica, Xannie, & Dacel)

In accordance with this, few Android applications are being created running to the

tablets. Tablet is a tablet-sized personal computer that runs on Google's Android

Operating System (OS). Android tablets incorporate all the key components found in a

normal tablet PC, including office applications, games, Web programs, and numerous

different projects. Most are for gaming, application framework, information based system

and data processing. However, because the Android stage is composed by Google,

Google's cloud-based applications are incorporated into Android tablets. (Techopedia

(n.d.)) (@Techopedia)

Android tablets, Smartphones, and touchpads are very saleable in today’s

generation. People are all having this kind of gadget, not only for personal and business
utilization also to lessen the boredom from work and pressures life. It gives a type of joy

which makes us free from stress and boredom.

Games are one of the alluring features that the android tablets, cell phones

and touchpads wave. The different version, styles and story of games make the normal

customer gets curious to examine and value them. From the outstanding Facebook game,

CANDY Crush, tablet game Plants versus Zombies, Temple run, Bubble Mania, and

Angry Birds, people find the opportunity to examine and download them that fit to their

necessities.

The group builds up an Android application for tablets that have the limit to give

a persistent storyline program that keeps the client constantly play with it. Also, it has a

story line gaming application which aims to achieve a score, as the player enjoy the

game.

In the past, Philippines struggled through many storms of anguish, difficulty, and

doubt. In fact, during the World War II, people forgot or did not know what really

happened. All they knew about World War II was the event, but did not know them as

well as the main cause of World War II.

Historically speaking, which is also World War II is known as the Second World

War was a global war that started from 1939 to 1945, though related conflicts began

earlier. Through this widespread of technology where it incorporates the in-demand

gadgets like tablets, touchpads, and mini pads, the said war is learned and understood

clearly, how did it start and ends. Besides, the focus and purpose of this is to make them

remember how World War II happened through playing and answering trivia in every

level.
Research Objectives

General Objectives:

The study aimed to collect artifacts of the World War II in the Philippines that

were be used as alternative in studying History.

Specifically the research aimed to:

1. Identify key events happened in the Philippines during World War II.

2. Identify the components of an E-learning and fun game.

3. Identify the Philippine heroes and their contribution during World War II.

4. Design trivia about the World War II in the Philippines.

5. Design and develop an Android game Clash of the Invaders: World War II in the

Philippines.

6. Design an question and answer about the World War II in the Philippines.

Scope and Limitations of the Research

The research focused on the problem of identifying important events happened

during World War II in the Philippines and the heroes behind it.

This research was based only in the Philippines and it was focused on the high

school student learning more about World War II history.

Significance of the Research

The proponents aimed to develop the Clash of Invaders game to provide

enjoyable application software available in the most android phone system and android

system. This endeavor aimed to give player application software that would help the

player to remember the most significant terms and history in the Philippines.
The game would be most significant to the following:

● Common users would be able to address the enjoyment of the user by playing the

android game Clash of Invaders Game.

● La Salle University would serve as the reference of the students in terms of

developing a computer system application program using android system.

● Proponents would help in sharing deep knowledge about the research project,

and about the overall functionality of the program.

● Future Researchers would encourage other analysts to come up with another

program developer of the android system implemented software.

Chapter 2

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

This section presents some studies and literature related to the study which the

researchers critically analyzed and examined each of it. This would also show the blend

of the art, hypothetical and conceptual framework in order to fully comprehend the

research project.

Related Literature

Mendez (2012) declares that sipa: Street Hack Sack, an Android/iOS

application brings to life one of the oldest and most adored street games in the

Philippines. More so, sipa is the first-ever Pinoy-themed games available in the Android

Market and the iTunes App Store made by a group of highly skilled Filipinos. The game

puts the player in control of Butchukoy, a young man out to play sipa all through the

boulevards in Manila. He earns points each time if he successfully hits the shuttlecock.

Also, he needs to pay attention to litter in the city since he gets additional points for

picking them up. In addition, he uses these points to open different places in the

Philippines to keep them coming. Moreover, what makes sipa different from other games

available today is that it is beyond thrill and excitement. More so, it spells nationalism,

culture, legacy, life lessons, and adrenaline-pumping gaming acts all that moved into one.

(Mendez, 2012)

Furthermore, the application strategic game connection used for touch screen data

system permits the framework idea being interfaced to the system clients. The data has

been surveyed through the goal itself and screens the way that the target goal of the game
must acquire, how the scoring structures. Hence, sipa has checked the instinctive game of

the player. (Coverage Essay, 2015)

Ramos (2013) from Manila Bulletin identified the programmer of Streetfood

Tycoon who is Erickson Garayblas. Further, Garayblas got an estimated of four million

downloads. Consequently, in May 2012, it was found out that there are thousands of

people who used the game despite the ideology that some of its formats were borrowed

by another popular tycoon type of game. Subsequently, the application was launched on

January 24, 2013, leaving the users not to have any requirements or an amount for them

to be able to download it. Along with it, it can be downloaded either from android google

application or iOS store. (Pinoy, 1970)

More so, the game is in a dynamic level wherein there is an increasing of

difficulty for every level. Additionally, it was composed of three levels represented in

three varied locations. The first level or the “easy” one was located in Europe followed

by the “medium” level either in South East Asia or United Sates of America (USA).

Finally, the most difficult or “hard” level was located in Asia. The player should spend

his credits for him to be able to open a shop and enter in different territories. The player

can speed things up through buying in-game credits by means of in-application. Take into

account that the standalone game is for free.

With the help of the application, the proponents were ready to apply the idea of

reversing and immersing the software development into an android framework

application for the trends that may influence the most recent and most in demand

structure these days. The concerns focus on the parts of the framework, creating, utilizing

the android system.

Related Studies

One of the finest piggy games is the Piggy Run (Dexit, 2011). The feature of this

game is to help and assist Piggy Rush to escape from the farmer and get Peggie, the baby

of Piggy Rush. It also has an aspect in which a player can compete with other players in

helping Piggy Rush. The first player who can help Piggy will win. Subsequently, this

game features splendid levels and superb animations for celebration, making this game

the solely one that has these kinds of features among other piggy run games. More so, the

celebration will be found at the end of every level. (Eruqal, 2015)

Meanwhile, the player can make the pig run and extend its wings. Additionally,

this game is more fun and incomparable to other piggy games. However, it is also the

same with other jumping and arcade games.

Hence, Piggy Adventure can be played anytime on different levels. These include

Multiple Piggy levels, specifically City, Ghetto, and others. Along with this, it also aims

for one thing and that is to help Piggy run and avoid becoming Piggy Pie on the table and

be eaten on dinner.

As adopted by the proponent, the game has different stages or levels. In

connection, this will help to monitor and observe the skills as well as the movements of

the pets, in which it is the goal of the system. Moreover, it also checks varied strategies

and techniques employed by the player in the interaction with the users of the system.

Meanwhile, another application which is produced by Bigfishgames is the Mini

Pets. The game Mini Pets allows the player to value the cutest animals on Earth by taking

good care and looking for a refuge. Moreover, hundreds of them are present in the game.

Their shelter or refuge can be customized as well. On the other part, the market is
comprised of many items such as vegetation and decorations where the player can do

shopping. Further, it can keep the visitors happy. The shelter of the animals needs a shop

since it is also a significant source of income. (Mini Pets Mobile Game, 2011)

Since Potchi App is an android game which is taking good care of the pets, the

concept that modifies the character is being a pet lover. Furthermore, it is parallel to the

concept of monitoring pets. Along with this vein, the proponents use the structure and

flow of the system.

Chapter 3

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This section talks about the method used in this study. The second segment

portrays the part of developing and evaluating the software Product. The third part

depicts the population of respondents. Subsequent eras that portray the usefulness of the

study is evaluated based on its parts and criteria as far as accuracy, reliability, usability,

efficiency, user-Friendliness are concerned.

This Research study was directed in view of the system. This methodology

assumes a critical part in implementing this study. The subtle elements of the

methodology are clarified in detail in this section.

Research Design

The proponents used descriptive method of research. It answers the questions and

describes the data and characteristics of the study being studied. It is used in many fields

of investigation due to its applicability to solve different kinds of problem. It involves

description, recording, analysis, and interpretation.

The researchers used descriptive development study as a research design strategy.

The reason for this is to portray the nature of a situation as it exists at the time of the

paper and to explore the course of a particular phenomenon. At the same time, The Fourth

Generation techniques (4gt) were used as the research paradigm where all activities were

based on the steps involved.

FIGURE 3.1 FOURTH GENERATION TECHNIQUE

The proponents also used the 4th Generation Technique because it enabled the

developers to simply determine problems with the system. The requirement gathering

made the proponents to gather the data or the information needed in working with the

system. The design strategy allows the user to show a monitor screen display on how the

program is run with the environment. The implementation of 4GL allowed the user to

deal with the changeover to a new or improved system. Also, testing and evaluation allow

the user to fully test and evaluate the software system.

In addition the researchers collected genuine information through conducting an

informal interview from people exposed to the new trend of technology that is suitable

for the proponents to get added information or reviews on the chosen study. Some data

were found from different sources such as articles, libraries, online materials, and other

source materials that are significant to the study. (Ibot (n.d.))

Research Respondents

The respondents of the study were high school students. There are (4) four 1st year

high school, (2) two 2nd year high school, (5) five 3rd year high school, (1) one 4th year

high school and (8) senior high school for a total population of twenty (20) students.

The population of the respondents was composed of and Hardcore Gamer who

were beneficiaries of software. Hardcore gamer is someone who thinks he is better than

anyone who spends less time than him in the hobby, but fails to get the same skill, status

or recognition in the hobby as a professional gamer while casual gamer is someone who

only plays a few games per year. The term "hardcore" is just a bad way of saying

"dedicated". They make it seem like it's based on the actual games you play.

Data Gathering Tools

The proponents gathered the necessary information for the study by conducting an

actual survey of those people who gained more or less knowledge about the game of

history of World War II in the Philippines. The researchers employed a survey

questionnaire to determine whether the respondents are a hardcore or a casual gamer in

playing games. (See appendix B and C) Moreover, based on the survey conducted, it was

revealed that most of the respondents utilized android phones in playing games. In

addition, the researchers also found out that there are 65% of the respondents who are a

hardcore gamer and 35% of the casual gamer in 20 respondents. Consequently, those

respondents who are a hard core gamer played games for about 1 to 2 hours while those

casual gamers played only for 15 to 30 minutes. Furthermore, the researchers also asked

the respondents if they enjoyed playing games using their phones and if it can lessen their

boredom. In terms of the respondents' knowledge towards the World War II in the
Philippines, it was also shown on the result of the survey conducted that some of the

respondents have forgotten and have no idea of what was happened during the said event

as well as the heroes behind it. The researchers then asked the respondents if they really

want to learn about the World War II in the Philippines through playing games. As a

result, most of them answered yes.

Research Instrument

The proponents prepared a set of questionnaire to be distributed to the respondent.

The questionnaire contained a question that was related to the study (see Appendix D and

E for the interview questionnaire). The functionality of the study was determined for

the whole of the questionnaires.

Treatment of Data

Percentage was used in manipulating the information to determine the presence of

distribution of the specific populace of the sample.

Ranking enforced the description of percentage. It showed the importance of the

position of the term used.

Chapter 4

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The research helped the respondents to understand and learn by playing the games

that contained a trivia about the history of World War II. Also the user knew the important

events during the World War II in the Philippines and got acquainted with the heroes.

Figure1. As shown in the picture above, the user opens/connects the Android

phone in order to start playing the game and gives trivia on World War II in the

Philippines to the user after it finishes the story mode.

The Trivia / Information on the World War II in the Philippines are the one that

gives information to the user/player of World War II of the on-time date of the said event

after the user/player finishes the story mode on the game.

Software and Programming language used:

● C#

C# an object-oriented programming language used with XML-based Web

services on the .NET platform and designed for improving productivity in the

development of Web applications.

● Unity

Unity is a powerful cross-platform 3D, 2D engine and a user friendly

development environment. Easy enough for the beginner and powerful enough for

the expert; Unity easily create games and applications for mobile, desktop, the

web, and consoles.

● Adobe Photoshop CS6

Adobe Photoshop CS6 is an application for photographers, graphics designers,

web designers, videographers, and 3D artists, which is used to enhance and

manipulate photos and create digitals art. The proponents used this software to

create and recreate elements and buttons of the application.

Theoretical Frame Work

Applications on the Android are one of the constant and the quickest in

developing an application programming these days. In 2003, when the idea of smart

phone terminals was created, it aimed to produce mobile business which was more

profoundly adaptable, lightweight, responsive, and free with open source functional

framework. (Dacel (n.d.)) (Dacel)

Besides, internet assumes an important role in affecting the framework that it

creates as far as PC application programs are concerned. A few periods of PC program

have been created from a simple amusement, with the RPG (role playing games), a mind

twisting game that are most popular gaming software. They are currently incorporated

with the mobile interfacing values. Also, it presently continues to wide spread as a phone

and android for style and accessories. The Mobile interfacing values are currently

incorporated. (Dacel (n.d.)) (Dacel)

The capacity to address the needs of the regular clients and specialist have

been using the Internet. The wide use of the internet for research on important points,

records, history, amusement, climate gauge and style are the most recent uses of PC

application. Also, the android application involvement prompts to the execution of

various android games which prompts to popularize the plants vs. zombies and the angry

birds. A large portion of the application does not just change over, but it is exclusively

used as part of the PC. It is also implemented to smart phones and tablets. (Rica,

Xannie, & Dacel (n.d.)) (Rica, Xannie, & Dacel)

Chapter 5

THE CLASH OF INVADERS ANDROID GAME

System Overview

Games are one of the appealing components that the android tablets, cell phones

and touchpad contain. The different version, styles and story of games make the end use

gets interested to test and enjoy it. From the recognized Facebook game, CANDY Crush,

Smartphones games Plants versus Zombies, temple run and Angry Birds, people get

interested and download games that fit to their needs to lessen the boredom.

The researchers then developed an E-learning App for android phones in order to

provide a history timeline program that kept the user regularly playing with it. An E-

learning story line gaming applications which aimed to gain scores and gave trivia about

World War II, as the player interacted with the game. Since the player was dealing with

the history story line, the interactive features, and graphics helped create a good gaming

output.

The Clash of Invaders (COI) is an E-learning app game which is based on the

history timeline of the Philippines during World War II. This game intent to provide a

step by step history timeline of the Philippines during World War II to the users that may

lead them to try, to play it every day, and to gain Trivia about the World War II in the

Philippines.

System Objectives

Develop an E-learning mobile game using android technology the Clash of

Invaders (COI). The game specifically aims to:

● Design a game that can give trivia about World War II in the Philippines.
● Show the heroes in World War II history.

● Design a 2D/3D animated application with sound effects.

● View the score of the hits of the character and a level per level data in a way

that it is being targeted by the character as they target the object.

● Allow the user to choose the difficulty of the game how is it being done and

played by the users/ gamers.

● Feature the game which covers level by level game features that allow the

gamer to get challenged from it.

● Design an question and answer about the history of World War II in the

Philippines after completing the game.

Game Scope and limitation

⮚ Scope of the game:

Clash of Invaders application used animation and sound effects in developing

projects. This application was available only for devices which were categorized as

Android phone having operating system with jelly bean OS (4.0 versions). The targets of

this project were the high school students that who did not fully know what happened and

who the heroes were during World War II history in the Philippines. The application was

designed for teenagers who were exposed to technology especially in on-line game. This

was designed for them so that they would enjoy the game and learn at the same time.

⮚ Limitations of the game:

● The system cannot be implemented in personal computer based system.

● It is software created only for touch screen pads, or touchscreen phones.

● The android tablets and touchpads must 5 inch screen width with API 20: Android

4.4 (KitKat) or higher.

● The history storyline/timeline of the game was based on the Philippine history

during World War II.

Architectural Design

Figure 1. Architectural design using Android Technology

It shows the process of the game application. Once the player executes the

application by clicking the mobile phone, the android application’s natural environment

monitors the recognized action. The application then displays the game menu of the

game, allowing the user to choose which activity he/she wants the device to execute

which is a start, Option and exit. Once a button is clicked, the system proceed to the

activity chosen. When the user starts playing the game, if he/she succeeds to complete the

mission, it displays a trivia then proceeds to the next mission.

Game Design

Overview

The game design is the history of World War II in the Philippines game that

defends the territory of the Philippines against the other nation/country.

Game Concept

The concept is to create a game-based single player game for those people who

forget and want to know the history of the Philippines during the World War II that

provide engaging, relevant, and learning capacity about the topic. The topics covered in

the game are the timelines of the events in the World War II in the Philippines. The game

will happen from a third-person perspective with a 2D graphics.

Genre

The genre of the study is Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games which a warfare video

game genre usually played from a third-person overhead perspective, which is based on

the real-time movement of troops.

Components of an E-learning and fun game

● The game must be educational and fun for the players.

● The opportunities to allow for various types of game-play within a solid

mechanic. For example, in a real-time strategy game, a player is able to

formulate varied strategies depending on the challenges that face him/her.

This response is targeted at a particular point in a particular situation that

has formed as a result of player action within the game environment.

● The game environment needs to provide the space, or rather a sense of

space that prompts the player to explore. The game environment need not

necessarily be a 3D high-fidelity representation of reality.

● Every game must necessarily include a range of challenges. This is

perhaps the simplest observation, to be commonly found in most

commercial games.
● Every game must target a range of abilities – the combination of abilities

required to solve a game problem must progress incrementally. As the

level of difficulty goes up, not one but a combination of abilities must be

used to win.

● Every game must require varied levels of skill when using the abilities that

the game provides.

● There must be multiple ways to win a game. Simple enough; these ties to

the mechanic allowing for a variety of strategies to emerge during game-

play.

Target Audience

Our ideal user has the following characteristics:

1. Ages thirteen(13) to twenty five(25)

2. Has an Android phone

3. Likes to play games

4. Desires to know the History of the Philippines

Player Roles and Actions

• It is the player’s role to place character/army in such a way that enemy units are

destroyed before they can cross to the end of the map.

• The Tap on an empty square places a character/army if funds allow.

Strategies and Motivations

• The player is given a limited amount of resources . (Williams & Dillon)

• For each character/army placed the player loses resources

• For each enemy unit destroyed, the player gains resources

• If you finish the game in each level, you receive a trivia about World War II

history in the Philippines

Rules and Procedure of the game

● The territory must be defended from the invaders.

● The base must survive against the waves of the invaders to win the game.

● There must be placements of fighting vehicle such as army and tanks.

Level Summary/Story Progression

● Enemies spawn each wave.

● If the player can stop all the waves on a map and still has life remaining, the

player proceeds to the next map.

● If the player can finishes all the maps, the player wins the game.

● The score depends on how many enemies are killed.

● The trivia will pop-up after the enemies are defeated.

Asset List

Gold – is used to buy characters in the game that gain each enemy unit destroyed.

Soldier – the fighting character that costs 100 gold.

Tank01 – the fighting character that costs 150 gold.

Tank02 – the fighting character that costs 200 gold.

Enemy – the one that invades the territory using fighting vehicle.

Game Score – is a scoreboard that is placed on the right side.

Map – an area of land or the physical feature of the game.

Trivia – a short pop up trivia of World War II in the Philippines.

The game scene is seen on Appendix F.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION ISSUES

In the past few years, smartphones have been flooding our world, and many of us

have become used to depending on certain apps to get through our day-to-day lives.

However, along with an abundance of these mobile apps comes the issue of reliability,

and it is not uncommon to experience app crashes.

Android, the most extensively used mobile operating system (OS) in the world

provides great stability, reliability and protection from malware, but you’re going to face

app crashing issues from time to time. Some of the key reasons behind apps crashing

constantly are:

● Fatal bugs in production & demand exceeding supply

● Incorrect memory & CPU usage

● Poor front-end optimization & integration dependencies

● Device incompatibility & database contention

Design Issues

A. Design Issue for Quizzes Button and Text Size

The proponent encountered an error when coding the choices button and the font

size text of the question because it was so small or so big on other devices. The proponent

try to reprogram the scripts and some code but unfortunate the button and the text size is

still the same. The proponent tried another android phone to test if the button and text size
have the same problem with the other phone. Apparently only the main testing phone

which is the first phone that we use has the problem of the size text and button.

B. Design Issue for Gameplay

The proponent found bugs and error when the player starts playing the game play

or the game scene. It shows that some enemy characters have some glitch that make the

character slowing down or repeated its movement like having a bumpy ride. The

proponent tries to fix it but it’s still the same the only solution of that is restarting the

game. Overall, every game play or game scene runs smoothly.

C. Design Issue on Devices

The proponent found some issues on some devices that incompatible with the

game. By this incompatibility some devices experience slightly lag and worse the Phone

is freezing that make the user need to restart the phone. The proponent suggests that the

user should use a device that has above 1GB Ram and Android Version of KitKat.

Implementation Issues

Platforms to be Used and Deployment Requirements

To achieve the objectives of the study, the proponents test and run the software in

different android phones to know its compatibility. The software was executed in android

phone with different specifications. The software runs in bad performance with the

following specifications:

Android Version: Jellybean - below

RAM: 512mb - below

Using these specifications, the animations will load so slowly. Furthermore, the

software runs in good performance with the following specifications:

Android Version: KitKat - above

RAM: 1 GB - above

After a series of testing, the result from the evaluation of the respondents about

the software gives favor to the proponent’s side by which all system objectives were

accomplished. The software was able to meet all the objectives, perform and execute all

the expectations that the client wanted to have for the software.

Display Quality

The project quality graphics in on 3D mode, and because of the structures

that is being use in the game, the game might be lag depends on the phone specs.

However, the display quality of the game will be set to minimum in order to achieve good

performance when playing the game.

Requirements The phone should at least:

Size of the Phone 5’0 inch above

Screen Resolution 1280x720 beyond

Type of Phone Android

Model of the Phone Any model

Version KitKat 4.4.0 Above

RAM size 1 GB Above

Phone or Tablet Both at least they met the requirements above

CHAPTER 7
RESULTS AND OBSERVATION

Before software is viewed as completed and transported to the clients, it should

first experience software testing. Software testing is the procedure that is directed to

evaluate the functionalities and structure of a framework to ensure that it shows great

quality and fulfills the client's requirements. Testing is likewise done to reveal errors or

imperfections that may be available in the software.

During the testing, the proponents made use of Black Box testing strategy

specifically Usability Testing under Functional Testing.

The purpose of Usability Testing is to evaluate the extent to which a user can

learn to operate, prepare inputs for and interpret outputs of a system or component. The

target system is tested over a range of inputs and outputs with this the developers

observed the correctness and ensure that the system functions, meets the objectives and

requirements needed.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Conclusion

As the development of the project that is accomplished and after a series of testing

of the software and analyzing the results, the proponents was able to achieve the system

objectives and its purpose. The proponent concludes that the android game has attained

its objectives and it will be function only on android phone that has above 1GB Ram and

at least has Android Version of KitKat.

Based on the result and observations, the proponents conclude that the system has

achieved its objectives in developing an android game based learning system to enhance

the learning, knowledge, and skills of Social Studies Student in La Salle University to

learn the history of World War II in the Philippines.

1. The proponents successfully design a game that can give trivia about World

War II in the Philippines.

2. After the player finished the level, a trivia will pop up with the heroes name

and picture in World War II history.

3. The proponents successfully design a 2D/3D animated game application with

sound effects.

4. After the player finished the level, the score of the hits of the character and a

level per level data that it is being targeted by the character as they target the

object will pop up along with the trivia and the heroes.
5. The proponent also successful on feature a game which covers level by level

game features that allow the gamer to get challenged from it.

6. When the player successfully finished all the level, the user can choose the

difficulty of the game how is it being done and played by the users/gamers.

Recommendation

The system has limitations and still needs further improvements. For the future

researchers who wish to continue this project the proponents recommended the following

recommendations needed for the improvement and better quality of using the system:

1. Add more Animations in the game so that it will become eye catching for the

users.

2. Upgrade the system compatibility so that many users can play the game on their

devices.

3. Adjust the size of the game to minimum so that it won’t take too much space on

the devices.

4. Fix those design issues (see chapter 6) to achieved a better performance on the

game.

APPENDIX E

INTERVIEW RESULT

1. What are the key events happening during World War II?

●After the Pearl Harbor bombings on December 7, 1941 Japanese troops

have continued their attack in the Philippines on December 8 1941. Since,

Philippines are also an American controlled country in that time. Luzon,

Visayas and Mindanao were bombed by Japanese war planes and warships

destroying hundreds of cities and infrastructure. General McArthur tries to

convince the Japanese to stop their attacks by declaring manila as an open

city, but the Japanese ignore this declaration and continue the invasion.

Finally, when Bataan and Corregidor completely hall Filipino and

Americans soldiers have been forced to engage so called “death march”.

Lots of soldiers died because of thirst and tired, and also no food to eat

since they were from battle. The moment that the Philippines was fully

conquered by Japanese the President Manuel L. Quezon with his cabinet

members exited Philippines using a submarine going to Mindanao and

from Mindanao using a private airplane going to Australia and after that

Serio Osmena and general Douglas McArthur also followed to Quezon.

Jose P. Laurel became president after the election held by the Japanese, but

Philippines official has their title but don’t have any power.

2. Who are the people behind the World War II? Can you consider them a hero?

●Based on what I’ve known they are 4 heroes. Jose P. Laurel, Jose Abad
Santos, General Douglas MacArthur and General Jonathan Wainwright.
3. What is the contribution of these heroes?

●For Jose P. Laurel he served as the puppet president during the Japanese
occupation in the Philippines even he was a puppet president from a

Japanese, he never let the Japanese win and take over the country since the

symbolism or the who rules the country despite being powerless is again

Filipino.

●Jose Abad Santos he refuses to help the Japanese in assessing the Japanese
invasions most cities in the country and because of that he was executed in

1942 by a Japanese soldier.

●General Jonathan Wainwright this general along with his troops and

USAFE. Because general Douglas MacArthur assigned General

Wainwright to be the overall General USAFE or united states armed forces

in the fire east. He tried his best to defend to a corridor which was the last

defense, democracy against the Japanese in imperialism.

●Last is the general MacArthur so he fulfilled his promise to win back

Philippines from Japanese control he came back after the allied forces won

battle in Europe.

4. What did the Philippines do to win the war?

● Actually, most Filipinos in that time were held captive by Japanese and

only a few Filipinos who were not captured in gage insurgences and

guerrilla wars like HUKBALAHAP which was created by supreme known

as LUIS TARUC and Kalibapi who tried to be fit in Japanese forces.

5. Who help the Philippines to win the war?

● In 1944 American troops lead by General Douglas MacArthur which is

famous of “I shall return” and troops from allied forces join together to be

fit in Japanese forces, American forces defeated the Japanese and

Philippines once again in the arm of American in July 5, 1945

1. What are the key events happening during World War II?

•The key events are the arrival of Japanese their occupation of the open city

manila, not only manila but eventually after a few months or few years they

explore other islands on the Philippines, that’s why the Japanese arrived in

Visayas and Mindanao. The next thing is the rebellion, rebellion might be

negative or bad “quotation” implication of rebellion but it was a rebellion against

the Japanese for the liberation of the Philippines so I can cite one groups;

“Hukbalahap or Hukbo ng Bayan Laban sa Hapon” which the- I don’t know if the

leader but his name is Louis Tarok, the one that lead the rebellion in the

cordilleras on Luzon.

2. Who are the people behind the World War II? Can you consider them a hero?

•The people behind World War II in the Philippines what happened is when the

Japanese occupied or prior to that when Japanese invaded the Philippines. As

what I remember America has a base in Hawaii so it’s near in here that the fact

that the Philippines during World War II they name as the gate way to the east.

The position of the Philippines if you will see on the map is its right there then

here are the South Asian nation, which is China, Japan- and the Philippines are

like one that holding all near South Asian nation, so if strategical speaking, if you

occupied or own the Philippines in terms of military, so if you want to conquer

China, if you conquer Indonesia, Malaysia- the Philippines have the advantage

because it’s in the center so that’s why it’s called the gateway to the east. What

happens is the America as our ally bought us from Spanish so that’s why we’re

their ally. America came to the Philippines and liberated us so we didn’t been
defeated in terms of war in the Philippines but what happened is after the bomb

on Hiroshima and Nagasaki when Japan surrender, all their military have been

disband all or been withdraw. So that was the end of the puppet government lead

by Jose P. Laurel. Yes of course I consider them as a hero, even though they are

rebels or how the books say it but they were rebelling for the purpose of liberating

the Philippines.

3. What is the contribution of these heroes?

•The contribution is not only they are rebelling, but sort of giving the sense of

urging of the rights, we are not the kind of people that oppress or we are the able

bided Filipinos who has their own right to be free.

4. Who help the Philippines to win the war?

•#1 US as their ally, of course without them we are this regarding that they help us

win the war, but I think that the reason we win the war is ourselves, the Filipino

people. Even though the Japanese are defeated, but we still a colony that’s why

we establish our own government so we can say we are free.

5. When does it happen and why it happened?

•1940’s on that period I think.

6. How do they become the heroes of World War II?

•They became the heroes of World War II because they are patriotism or the love

for the country and the love for the people.

PULVERA, JOHN RAINER L.

BSED – 4 SOCIAL STUDIES

1. What are the key events happening during World War II?
● Because Japan was very aggressive and Philippines was a very strategic area so

of course Japan invaded the country and then they did not good to the

Philippines and cause violence in the country.

2. Who are the people behind the World War II? Can you consider them a hero?

● The people behind the World War II are the Japanese, because theoretically it’s

started when the Japanese bomb the Pearl Harbor, there goal is actually to

create United Asia so japan including the Philippines and the rest of the

country around the Asia. The Americans maybe are the heroes and some of

Filipinos was like the guerillas and many of those heroes in the country.

3. What is the contribution of these heroes?

● The guerillas help liberating the Philippines from the oppression and also with

the help of the American army.

4. What did the Philippines do to win the war?

● The Philippines had nothing to do other than depending everything to the

American’s because at that time we have no strong military force so we had to

depend to the Americans.

5. Who help the Philippines to win the war?

● The American’s.

6. When does it happen and why it happened?

● 1940’s when Japan wanted to have revenge against America. And japan came

into power and they went so aggressive and they wanted to have United Asia,

having them as the mother country like they want to create an empire.

7. How do they become the heroes of World War II?

● They became heroes because they sacrifice their lives specially the soldiers,

the insurgents and many people fought the Japanese.
