Based on “Indonesia needs international cooperation to develop its geothermal power” by Diana
Permana, explain that Indonesia has a huge geothermal potential, but only 10% of it is now being
used since the risks are high, the invesments are expensive, and the permissions and licenses are
unclear. The Indonesian government has released policies to entice more investors, and Pertamina
GeoThermal Energy (PGE) has entered the Indonesia stock exchange to support its plan to develop
its installed capacity of 600 MW until 2027. These actions will increase the use of geothermal energy
and help Indonesia achieve its goals for the transition to renewable energy. New Zealand, which has
a wealth of knowledge in the production of power from geothermal sources, is prepared to promote
Indonesia’s geothermal growth throught technical support, business-to-business alliances, and
scholarships. According to New Zealand, Geothermal energy has the potential to significantly
contribute to Indonesia’s transition to renewable energy, and the country focuses investing in
people and cutting-edge technologies like green hydrogen. Indonesia is capable of achieving energy
security, independence, and a full transition to renewable energy use with the help of a strong
government, dedication from investors and entrepreneurs, and also effective international alliances.
