I. Future Simple, “will” & “be going to”


The Future Simple Tense
The Future Simple Tense is formed in two ways, by using

will + infinitive (be) going to + infinitive

What is the difference between "will" and " (be) going to ????????
"Will " is used to express "(be) going to" is used to express

1. Predictions based on personal opinions. 1. Predictions based on evidences.

Ex: I think Barcelona will win the cup. Ex: The weather is cloudy. It is going to rain.
Ex: Probably, Ahmad won't come. Ex: Look! He is going to jump.

- Key words: Ex: She answered no question, She is going to fail.

I think, I believe, I hope, I expect,


I estimate, I guess, perhaps, probably.
2. Promises, threats, warnings, requests.

Ex: I will stand by you all the way.


Ex: I will kill you.
Ex: Be careful, the tree will fall down.
Ex: Will you please bring me some water?

Subject + will + Vo (base form ) + rest. Subject + is\am\are going to + Vo + rest.
Affirmative

II. Conditional Sentences, Type One
- We use this type to express possible or expected results of real situations in the future.

Ex: If I have time next week, I will visit my grandfather.


If you don’t leave now, I will call the police.
If you aren’t busy tonight, will you visit me?
If you visit Jordan, you will eat Mansaf.
If I see Ahmad, I will tell him the truth.
If I see tomorrow, I will tell you a secret.

- A conditional sentence is made up of two parts ( clauses ) :


If clause ‫ ـــــــــــ‬, main clause.
Ex:
If you study hard , you will pass the exam easily.

Note: we should delete the comma ( , ) when the main clause comes before the If clause.
Ex: You will pass the exam if you study well.

STRUCTURE :
main clause if- clause
Subject + will (positive or negative) + Vo (base form). If + Present Tense (positive or negative) ,
If you visit England , you will see Oxford University.
If you think this book is interesting , I will buy it.

Note : “unless” can be used in conditional sentences, type 1, to mean If not .


In this case, the unless clause is always affirmative and the main clause is usually negative.

Ex:
I won’t buy you this phone unless you promise me to use it in a good way.
They won't come to the party unless they are invited.
Unless the weather is fine, we won’t have a picnic.

The Giant Panda

The giant panda is classified as a bear in the Ursidae family. though it's
known as "big bear cat when directly translated from Mandarin. The giant
panda does not hibernate like most bears. Instead, this rare mammal lives mostly in
solitude throughout its 35-year lifespan. One of the most characteristic qualities of the
giant panda is its black and white colors. They have black eye patches, shoulder patches
and leg patches. They are skilled tree climbers and can reach sizes of 300 pounds and 6
feet tall when standing on its back two legs. Female pandas are usually smaller than
male pandas. The giant panda has a special hidden "thumb" that allows it to break
bamboo, which is a very important job for giant pandas. For me, these panadas are
lovely animals.
