Ouestion No3:
A).State what is meant by machinery condition monitoring?
B).With respect to condition monitoring:
(I) List the equipment it requires;
(II) State how the information obtained is used to indicate machinery condition
trends.

Ans.
A). Condition monitoring as its name implies, is an indication of the condition of a
machine. Condition monitoring provides this information and can also give guidance
on the nature of fault and is to detect trends in the operating characteristic of
equipment that indicate when deterioration and incipient failure is developing,
therefore maintenance is required with condition monitoring, and machine can be run
for a longer period and down time required for the maintenance can be reduced,
because the repair work can be planned in advance.

Bi) l.Measuring instruments are listed as lollow:

- Vibration measuring equipment
- Shock pulse measuring equipment
- wear debris analysis equipment which divided into:
.spectrography
.fenography
- Temperature measuring devices
- Pressure measuring devices
- Curent & insulation testing devices for electrical machinery.
.2. Data collection unit
i 3. Computer along with appropriate soft ware for analysis.'

Bii) Data collected by above measuring instruments at the time when the machinery
is in good condition and operating satisfactory is recorded and kept as a standard
against which to judge the future condition of the machinery to diagnose faults and to
decide on the maintenance required.
This system either require expert engineers who are enable to analysis the data
collected and diagnose the fault or a computer along with soft ware into which data
collected is fed and computed and results of condition of machinery is
displayed/printed out.
