Germany in World War 1

Germany was one of the main powers in World War 1. It was

the leader in of the central powers. Germany came into the
war when the heir of the leader, Archduke Ferdinand was
assassinated by a Serbian rebel’s bullet. Austria-Hungary had
signed a secret pact with Germany which brought Germany
into the war. Germany then also declared war on Russia and
then France. After pushing the French army back, the army of
Paris forced the Germans to retreat. After this Germany raced
to the sea to cut of British supplies but Belgium opened lock
gates and flooded the area. After this 700km of trenches were
dug on the western side. On the eastern side troops are sent to
fight a Russian offensive which puts Austria-Hungary under
pressure. After a little bit the ottoman empire joined World
War 1. After this Germany was having success against Russia
on the eastern front but on the western front, the French army
was making German forces retreat and it led to the end of
World War 1. After the war Germany was made to accept the
Treaty of Versailles. It was a treaty that stated Germany
would have to accept blame for the war, Germany would have
to pay 6,600 million pounds, Germany would have to reduce
military and Germany would have to give up its territories.
