Sure its fine to take inspiration from guys that have been there
and done it before you. Just don't fall into the trap of being a
lower quality version of someone else. The guys that are on the
front line, slashing through the jungle with their machete, paving
the way will always be the top dog. Creating a new path yourself
is harder than following someone else's path, sure. But the man
you become when you create your own path and develop your
own unique swagger will pay dividends in the long run.
Following this set formula that I have developed will allow you to
learn any skill in your own way. You will perform in a way that is
unique to you. No one remembers the boxers who fought in the
same style as the ones that came before them. People
remember the Renegades. Mike Tyson fought like no one else in
his era. He was an outlier among competition. He knocked his
opponents out within seconds and people loved it. His
peek'a'boo style was unique to him. If you wanted violence, you'd
watch Mike Tyson. He paved the path for the boxers who in years
to come adopted his peek'a'boo style. But no one pulled it off like
Mike. He was the Renegade. Creating his own path. He was the
original.

When learning any skill first you must master the fundamentals.
These are the foundations of your skill set. They are not unique in
anyway but they work. This is the boring part. All it takes it
constant repetition. When building houses the foundations all
look the same and all do their job of keeping the house solid. It's
from these foundations that architects create vastly different
designs. Learning a skill is exactly the same, create your
foundation which you can then later build upon and develop your
own unique swagger.
Ruthless self analysis. Now it starts to get fun. This is where you
can begin to develop your own style. Record and document
everything you have done so far. Every time you put the
fundamentals into practice, document it for self analysis. It's
within this self analysis where you swagger begins to form.
Whats working for you? Whats not working? Take note of
everything. Plan new approaches to try out based on your natural
inclinations and strengths. There will be areas of a skill that you
naturally take too, focus in on these areas and play to your
strengths. Through analysis of every area of your game you will
begin to form your own way of performing that particular skill. A
way that is tailored exactly to you.

Now you have analysed everything. Put this analysis into action.
Action is the at the centre of all growth. Take your notes you
have made and act upon them. Perform the new approaches you
have devised. Play to your strengths and improve your short
comings. The result of ruthless action every time is growth and
when you combine ruthless action with analysis its only up from
there.
Rinse and repeat. This formula I have set out for you can not be
performed once and you have instantaneously achieved
mastery. You must repeat and refine this process over years and
years. Each time you perform the self analysis and put it into
action your getting that little bit better. And not only are you
getting better but you’re forging your own unique style and
swagger. You are not copying the greats who have come before
you. They are considered the greats because they did things
their way. Lived and performed how they wanted to do so. They
lived the Renegade lifestyle.
For those of you that have seen my sparring videos you will
notice I have a very unconventional technique for a boxer, hands
down, bouncing in and out.

Reject the system and anything that boxes you into a specific
category. Creative expression is found when you reject rules and
forge your own path in the world. As you forge this path you will
develop your own swagger and mindset.
