a) Hanging type As a type of plugging connector, it is a structure in which a knife and a knife tray are bent to insert a
suitable plug and rotate to the right to prevent the plug from coming off.
b) Room type It is a structure that can be used outdoors in a place where rainwater touches. They
range from unprotected (IPX0) to continuous immersion (IPX8) and are classified by IP code.
c) A ring-shaped nut used for waterproofing of the plug and knife rest connection of the union ring waterproof plug. In
general, it is attached to the plug, has a gasket, and the gasket is screwed and tightened on the male screw installed in
the plug base to make it waterproof.
d) For plugs adapter As a type of plug tray of the plug connector, it is a structure that can be easily used by connecting
plugs and plug holders with different pole placements, and is composed of a knife on the power supply side and a knife
tray on the load side.
e) What has a pilot lamp A pilot lamp is inserted into a part of the plugging connector, which is lit by the voltage of
the converter and lit by the load current that is energing.

Commentary
This explanation is an explanation of the matters specified in the text and subsection and related
matters, and is not part of the standard.
1. Outline
1.1 Purpose of the amendment
In July 2000, the type approval system under the type approval system for electrical appliances was
changed to the safety certification system for electrical appliances. As a result, the contents of the
related test standards have also been changed from the technical standards for electrical appliances
used in Japan ("former" standards for type approval) to the safety standards for electrical appliances
("K" standards for safety certification), which are translations of the IEC standard, which is an
international standard.
As the Harmonization period for using the "former" standard, which is a type approval standard, and
the K standard, which is a translation of the IEC standard, which is an international standard, ended in
June 2004, there were cases where only the K standard was used as a safety certification standard for
electrical appliances. In addition, it became necessary to change the KS standard, which is a test
standard used when selectively acquiring the KS standard a few months after obtaining the safety
certification, to the contents of the international standard.
In response to these demands, the KS standard related to the safety certification of electrical appliances
has been revised.
In 2007, following the standardization project in the field of wiring equipment, KS C 8305 standard was
also revised by adopting the numbering system and contents of KSCIEC60884-1 in cooperation with
related organizations after surveys, public hearings, and identification of related standards by the
manufacturer.
2. Major revisions
2.1 Classification of product ratings
The contents of 50A, which are classified as industrial use, were deleted, and the types that are not
The rating expressions used in the type approval standard were 3A, 7A, 10A, 12A, 15A, 20A, and 30A,
but in the KS standard, which is revised according to the contents of the safety certification standard,
the rating expression was changed to 2.5A, 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A, 32A, and 50A
The nominal cross-sectional area of the wire used in the type approval standard was 0.5 ㎟, 0.75 ㎟,
1.0 ㎟, 1.25 ㎟, 1.5 ㎟, 2.0 ㎟, and 3.5 ㎟, but in the KS standard, which is revised according to the
contents of the safety certification standard, the nominal cross-sectional area expression of the wire
was changed to 0.5 ㎟, 0.75 ㎟, 1.0 ㎟, 1.5 ㎟, 2.5 ㎟, and 4.0 ㎟
The expression of the terms used in the type approval standard has been changed to the same as the
K standard, which translates the terms used in the IEC standard in the KS standard, which is revised
according to the contents of the safety certification standard. For example, "corded plug plug" has
been changed to "cordless plug".
A new term was also enacted, such as the term "shutter" was coined in parallel with the "safety device"
of the outlet.
The main content correction omitted those that overlapped with those in the IEC standard, such as
structural insulators and markings.
The grade expression of waterproof products was divided only in Korean, but the same symbol notation
was used as the method expressed in the IEC standard. In other words, the product waterproof grade
indication such as "rainproof type" was changed to an expression such as "vertical drop (IPX1)" or
"spraying (IPX5)", clarifying the division of the waterproof grade mark.
2.5 Establishment of outlet and plug geometric dimensions
In response to the needs of increasing the capacity of household electrical equipment such as air
conditioners, "Budo 2-d: Two-pole outlet and plug for grounding (for 32A/50A 250VAC)" was newly
enacted.
In the default indicating the shape and dimensions of outlets and plugs, English characters were added
to the power polarity representation and modified to the power pole (L, Live), neutral pole (reference
potential pole, N, W, Neutral), and ground pole (E, Earth, Ground) so that understanding and
interpretation are clear.
2.7 Supplementing the explanation of the default
The explanation of the budo indicating the shape and dimensions of the outlet and plug was added or
supplemented explanatorily to make the understanding and interpretation clear, the recessed outlet that
had not been produced for many years was deleted, the horizontal length limit of the round recessed
outlet was removed, and the outer height of the outlet of the round outlet of the round outlet of the part
5 was changed from 8.5 to 8.0, which is the same as the foreign standard.
In the rated voltage display method of the product, the symbol of the power supply type (AC indication
is "~" or "AC") is displayed to be the same as the safety certification standard.
The contents of the standards cited in this KS C 8305 standard have been modified to the contents
of the standards currently published and used.
