The Haunted House

One day I went to a haunted house at one of the tourist places in my city. Of course, it was not a
real haunted house, but only a creation of a room with a horror atmosphere. That haunted house
always made me curious to go inside and see because many people were screaming when entering
it. I decided to buy the ticket and see inside. I wanted to feel the horror. The room was dark, only
using a few thematic lightings focused in specific spots which the ghost properties were displayed.
The room was also divided into 4 parts with different themes of horror. Every visitor would be
entering all parts to find the exit and no one can be out of that room except by passing through the
exit door. In the first-third part of that room I only saw some kind of scary display using the theme
of ghosts. There were some fake ghosts made from dolls, fake cemeteries and some old furniture
which made us imagine the ghost. In the last part of that room there were a lot of actors who wore
any kind of ghost costume and make up. They were moving around and shocked the visitor. This
part was the best one that impressed people about the fear of the haunted house.

parts to find a middle way out.

costumes and makeup.

Football

Anyway, the football match took place about 5 years ago, when two of the best football clubs of
my country played against each other in a final match of the national football tournament. The two
archrival teams had already clashed against each other in the past, and their number of wins was
pretty much the same throughout the history of their clash, especially in this tournament. So,
essentially, nobody really knew which team was favorite to win the final.

The game continued scoreless up until the half time interval, but as the second half of the game
started, the intensity of the game increased. In the meanwhile, I was getting nervous in the stadium
because my team wasn’t exactly playing up to our expectations. In fact, my team was lucky to
survive a few scoring chances from the opponent team. Then, suddenly, the ball was passed to the
main “striker” of my favorite team from nowhere, and a goal was scored by my team, leaving the
supporters of my team completely ecstatic and crazy with the feeling of a possible victory. And, in
the end, we were indeed the victorious team.

Anyway, I consider this match to be interesting because we never know which team is going to
win. Besides, I consider this match exciting also because it attracts supporters from all over my
country. Finally, it is also interesting because no other sporting event makes us as emotional as this
one.
I like football, whether it is played between two international teams or local teams, as long as the
teams give their best on the field. The sporting event that I would like to talk about was a national
club football tournament in my country that takes place every year. But when the game actually
started, all the supporters of both the teams were screaming and encouraging their respective teams
as if they were bound to win. As a supporter, I also wanted my team to win at all costs. Anyway,
both teams were playing very “rough and tough” football that led to some unwanted “fouls” and
some unfortunate “istights”.

6. Which of the following is a conclusion from the text above?

a. The writer told a football match that his favorite national team won even though the match was
very rough and tough.
b. The writer told a football match that was won by his favorite international team even though
the match was very rough and tough.
c. The writer told a football match that he won even though the match was very rough and tough.
d. The writer told a football match that he won with a very smooth and orderly match.
e. The writer told a football match won by his favorite national team with a very smooth and
orderly match.

7. "Anyway, both teams were playing very “rough and tough” football that led to some unwanted..."
What is the synonym for rough?
a. Soft
b. Strong
c. Delicate
d. Rude
e. Mild

Breakfast

Breakfast is one of the most important things to have before starting the day. Usually I had
my breakfast before going to school. But yesterday was different because I did not have my
breakfast and it was disastrous. Yesterday I woke up late and had not enough time to prepare
myself as usual before going to school. Since I ran out of time, I left without eating my bread
or drinking my milk. When I arrived at school, I was a bit lucky because I could still make it
to the class without getting punished for being late. However, there was a more harmful
problem. After getting into class, it seemed like I could not feel my head. Then, I sat on my
chair where all the classmates shouted out for no reason. It was the last thing I heard because
afterwards everything turned into darkness. When I got my consciousness back, everything
around me looked moving as if they were dancing. Then I felt like something dark punched
my face. Right after that, I lost my consciousness for one more time. After that day, I learned
that breakfast is very important to give me energy as well as to keep my awareness. Starting
now, I will not miss my breakfast.

Tenants Advised to Obey Regulations on Apartment

Jakarta: A building architect has advised families planning to live in an apartment to study all
the relevant regulations prior to moving in to help prevent unexpected security-related
occurrences. “Tenants must obey certain regulations when living in an apartment, which is far
different from living in a landed-house,” Fendhi Ibuhindar said. “Tenants of an apartment
should abide by regulations set by the owner of the high-rise building,” he added. “This is
important, especially for a family that has a young child,” he was quoted as saying by
okezone.com. According to him, the trend of living in an apartment in Jakarta started only 10
years ago. Living in an apartment has increasingly become popular. “Most of Jakarta’s residents
are more accustomed to living in a landed house and when they live in an apartment, many are
not ready for apartment-living habits and regulations. They have to abandon their mindset of
living in a landed-house,” he said. He said that an owner of apartment should also consider
aspects of designing and building materials that are safe for children. “The quality of building
materials should be prioritized,” he said. “Children’s safety should be the main concern with
regards to the building materials that are used,” he said. (Adapted from: The Jakarta Post, May
