1. What is the main content of Joshua


● The main content of the Book of Joshua in the Bible revolves around the
Israelites' conquest and settlement of the Promised Land under the
leadership of Joshua, who was the successor of Moses. The book begins
with the death of Moses and focuses on the crossing of the Jordan River by
the Israelites, the fall of the city of Jericho, and the subsequent military
campaigns to capture and divide the land among the twelve tribes of Israel. It
also describes various battles, victories, and defeats encountered by the
Israelites as they establish their presence in Canaan. The book concludes
with Joshua's farewell address to the people of Israel and his passing away.

● Who is Joshua - He was selected by Moses to be his successor and lead


the Israelites, who had been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years, into
the Promised Land of Canaan. He is often described as a military leader,
strategist, and the one who carried out the conquest of Canaan.

● He calls them to turn away from the Canaanite gods and be faithful to the
covenant they made. If they do, it will lead to life and blessing in the land,
but if they’re unfaithful, Israel will call down on itself the same divine
judgement that the Canaanite experienced. They'll be kicked off the land
into exile.

● Compare Saul and David - Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin and came
from a humble background, he initially had a close relationship with God and
was filled with the Holy Spirit. However, as he became more disobedient and
rebellious, God's spirit departed from him, leading to his downfall. David, on
the other hand, was from the tribe of Judah and grew up as a shepherd. Also
despite his flaws he always sought forgiveness and restoration from God and
maintained a strong connection with Him.

the weakness and futility of following false gods. It also emphasizes the
importance of remaining faithful to God's commands.
19-25 - The preservation and protection of God's people despite the constant
threats and attacks they face. It also highlights the consequences of pride,
disobedience, and the ultimate downfall of both kingdoms due to their
departure from serving the Lord.

5. IN ONE PARAGRAPH how do you describe THE GOD OF ISRAEL?


● The God of Israel, also known as Yahweh or Jehovah. Described as omnipotent,
omniscient, and omnipresent, this deity is perceived as the creator and sustainer
of the universe. Yahweh is recognized for his divine attributes of justice, mercy,
and love, and is characterized as a personal God who forms a covenantal
relationship with his chosen people, the Israelites. God is revered for his mighty
acts, including the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and the
guidance provided to them during their journey towards the Promised Land. As
the God of Israel, Yahweh's teachings and commandments outline moral
principles and ethical guidelines for human behavior, emphasizing the
importance of adherence to these principles for the well-being and prosperity of
all creation.
